It overwrites it - the database is maintained unless you tell it otherwise during the installation.

THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING THE INFORMATION AS REQUESTED!

Every soundcard has an inherent delay between receiving the signal and ouputting the signal. The two card you're using have different amounts of delay.

Fortunately for you, DJS has the ability to compensate for this! Simply go into the options and experiment with the delay value on the headphone card.

Let me know how it works out.

You sure it's not your ears? There's nothing else which I would say would cause the delay between signals.

here is a sample of whats going on. obviously i don't have the sound card latency thing zero'd in but it's good enough for now. it only messed up on 2 out of 7 mixes. the first was at 4:25 and the other was at 27:07. it's like the music skips on one sound card only while it plays through just fine on the other.

Without listening to the mix, is it actually SKIPPING? Are you running any other applications (foreground or background) while playing? I know the application only needs about 5-10% of the system (typically) but there isn't any real reason for it to skip on one source but not the other.

more like a short pause. it's like it 's having trouble loading the song. for an extra precaution, i close down all my virus protection and other big programs. i do however run audacity in the background to record, but it would also skip with out audacity running.

Surprisingly, DJS requires very little of the system and it can handle running 2 MP3 streams plus the processing of MT / pitch bend without taxing the processor / memory.

You say it "pauses" before starting; does the clock start playback immediately when you click or is that where there is an initial delay? Once you have the music sync'd up for the master is it also sync'd in the headphones?

it will do random skip / pauses in any song. once it skips or pauses it won't sync back up until i reload the song or load up a new song.

Does it just happen when you hit play or during the song as well?

only during the song. it also seems that just because it skips on one sound card it won't on the other.

Just trying to clarify...

Play 2 songs, get them beatmatched in the master ouput. When you cue them both are they beatmatched in the headphones and is the headphone output in sync with the master output?

When you load a new song and beatmatch those two, repeat the above - are they still in sync across both outputs?

Does the "pause" occur when you press a button or perform a function or does it happen on its own?

It's still a difficult matter for me to understand and thus explain to Japan so if you can provide a step-by-step of what you're doing, where the audio is going and when you notice it.

When you load a new song and beatmatch those two, repeat the above - are they still in sync across both outputs? ----- initially yes, unless it skips.

Does the "pause" occur when you press a button or perform a function or does it happen on its own? ----- it seems to just happen on it's own. i never bring the audacity window, or any other window into the foreground.... i always keep the djs on top until i am completely finished.

It's still a difficult matter for me to understand and thus explain to Japan so if you can provide a step-by-step of what you're doing, where the audio is going and when you notice it. ----- after i have both songs loaded and ready to go, i will start the second track to mix it in. everything sounds fine in the monitor, but occasionally the djs screen will do a single quick flash (skip) and the beat will be off after that. i will then rewind the track and try the mix again but the beat will not match on the master out (but it's still matched in the headphones). if i drag the same song over and drop it in the player it seems to reset it and i and go on my way, providing that it does not skip / pause again.

What happens if you try pitch-bending it to meet/match the track - will it then be matched the the master but no the headphones?

Interesting. I have had a track pause, but usually it was becasue another app. started or changed the way uit was running. Even an open E-mail app that auto downloads E-mails could do it.

What I don't get is the skipping later, unless the tracks are damaged at the source ( bad files will do this sometimes ). What are burning the MP3s at, 256K, 320K? Just curious if maybe the files are the source of the issue.....

That was my next question. Does it happen with the same tracks or any and every track?
