933 mhz processor? whoa... is that code not optimized or what?! All the other specs seem fine for what that software does. imho it should be able to run on half that.
For mac users, you can try running it in VirtualPC for a taste of what it does. |

Dave - remember, you're getting 2x MP3 processes going on, plus pitch controling with master tempo...

Quote: Oh no, it requires 2.5 year old computer techology. ![]() Don't forget we PC users broke the ghz barrier a long time ago. ![]() We're potentially playing and mixing 2 sound sources at one time, plus that snazzy user interface. It's got some work to do, and I bet they padded it a little to keep from getting phone calls on performance. |

Pfft... my 333 mhz Mac can encode 2 MP3s and playback 2 mp3 streams at once; I'm sure a Windows machine at double that mhz could so the same. Or how about a Pro Tools session running 8 tracks of audio with effects? And the kicker: a whole Reason rack running flawlessly being controlled with a serial midi keyboard speaks for itself. Apparently, a small company like Propellerheads know how to program better than a huge company like Pioneer. It just seems like the trend lately is as the mhz goes up, programmers get sloppier and sloppier with their coding and things just bloat to all extremes--all those damned shared libraries, etc.

Actually Dave, it's called utilizing the new technology. Companies come out with tools that allow you to write code faster, and at a performance cost.
The alternative would be to wait an extra 2 years, or pay twice as much for the software. And you can buy a 1ghz PC for like 300 bucks. So quit ya whining. ![]() |

Is the DJ Booth Software going be useful even if you don't have a DMP555?
If it is... then I would like to give it a try. |
