Hi there, I have already posted a similar question before and I know at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference but i'm still unsure as to which software to choose between DJS or Traktor to use with my CDJ 400's.

I have downloaded Traktor 3 Demo Version and have managed to use it with my CDJ 400's and it seems fine (apart from the CDJ being a dead controller). I like how you can access all the music on your laptop by browsing through the folders in the explorer.

I downloaded the demo version of DJS a while ago before i had my CDJ 400's and it has expired so i can't download it again so i cant try it with the CDJ's. When using the CDJ's with DJS are they dead or does the track name and time remaining etc appear in the display, and can you use the effects on the CDJ's? Also can you access all the music on your laptop by simply browsing files in the explorer or do you have to manually transfer all the music you want to use into the DJS software?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated with any of these questions as i plan on purchasing either one of them in the near future and would obviously want to get the best one and not waste my money?

Cheers

When using the CDJ with DJS, you get all the time and track information in the displays but no, you can't use the effects. The only time the effects are enabled is during CD or USB source playback. You can navigate the tracks just like Traktor but you must import them first.

You need to import them in Traktor as well otherwise they won't have the waveform built.
