Friz from Italy! Can't believe that! Are you really going to get rid of your 1000s?

Friz,
Here's some answers to your questions... 1) The 3000 has the option for 4 line level inputs, but if I were you I'd keep the 2x CDJ1000's, a DJM600 and get only one DMP555. Reason for only getting 1? Because the DMP555 is a dual media controller, you don't really need 2 of them. When you're using it with the computer, you can only (at this time) hook up 1 DMP555 to the DJ Booth software. 2) Your best bet (if using a laptop) would be to use two external soundcards. I don't think that even a multichannel soundcard (such as the Extigy) is actually suported as a multiple-channel device under Windows. You have several options in the DJ Booth configuration for how to setup your monitoring and channel play. Because the software has a built in "mixer" (level control for each of the 2 virtual decks, plus a crossfader), you can use your external soundcard as the "main audio", and the lower-quality built-in soundcard as your cueing. This is a great way to save money on not buying 2 soundcards. 3) I don't understand your 3rd question. 4) See #2 ... the 2 virtual decks can be output to their own soundcards, or to one soundcard. You can run the line output to a mixer and still use the mixer to control the levels, and the DMP555 to control the software. Hope this helps, but if you still have questions, just ask. ![]() Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

Heheh... it will soon be able to use 2 DMP555's to interface, but right now, you only need one to do it!
If you look at the control surface of the 555, there are big "CD" and "CARD" buttons, when you're in the DJ Booth PC Control mode, those buttons allow you to switch which virtual deck (in the software) you're controlling. I understand the desire to have 2 controllers, but that's not a feature of the software right now. I can't say much on when it will happen, but I can say that the guys in Japan are working HARD at improving the software ALL the time. Since I've been testing the 555 and DJ Booth, there has been 3 minor updates, and each time things work a bit smoother. The software package as a stand-alone product won't be available 'till next year, but there will be a copy of it available bundled with the 555. Obviously the user will be able to connect to the web and download updates for the software, and even better ... flash updates for the hardware. ![]() Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

I don't know the specs on it (will look later), but Maya puts out some good stuff.
If you saw my post in the Studio, I'm using an Edirol UA-5 with mine. It's not a multiple in/out device, but it's still great quality. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

The Maya 5.1 is nice. It has both recording and playback features. However, you would still need to use the laptop's sound card as one channel and the Maya as another (just like Pulse's setup) because it does not support output pairing. I have a Roland UA-30 and I too must use the same config.
However, I check out Audiotrak's web site and found they have a newer product called the Maya 7.1 USB. It has digital out, headphone out and EIGHT analog outs. No recording features. BUT... You can assign analog pairs (1+2,3+4, etc.) to your applications. This would be perfect for DJ Booth, since you could assign a pair for the main output and a pair for the monitor, or two seperate stereo channels, take your pick!! ![]() Pulse, this is exactly what you and I were discussing and had 'wished' somebody would come out with when we were in Vancouver. I believe street is around $150 US. ![]() |

Pro tools also has a new ASIO driver out... I've not used it myself but appearantly it lets the multiple channels appear in software that supports the ASIO driver.... that might be a solution. (something to try for anyone that has pro tools)

Are you set on the Maya 7.1? There are other devices which will do the same thing...

Richii, I'd certainly recommend a multi-out device, I got a single-out device strictly for quality recording purposes, not for DMP/Booth use. There's a few on the market for USB, some are better than others. Some people have used the SB Extigy, but my dislike there is the connectors - all stereo minijack (1/8") for the analog ins/outs. The Maya5.1 is prolly yer best bet, and for around $95, you can't go wrong.
No, you can't daisy chain USB devices. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

Actually, the extigy has an optical in and out, not just the analog stereo jacks.
