Please guys, when you're asking for assistance with the CDJ400, whatever the problem may be, provide us with AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE!
First and foremost, tell us the firmware version of your player, regardless of the problem! Press and hold the RELOOP button for 10s to display it. If your problem is with MP3 playback, give us more information than "I have a Brand X drive with some files"... If you have a Flash Drive, tell us: - brand / model - type (standard, U3, Vista ReadyBoost) - capacity - possible security or encryption settings - format (FAT, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+) - number and type of MP3s (VBR, CBR) and bitrates - folder structure (0 levels, 1 level, 10 levels) If you have a Hard Drive, tell us: - brand / model - capacity - possible security or encryption settings - format (FAT, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+) - number and type of MP3s (VBR, CBR) and bitrates - folder structure (0 levels, 1 level, 10 levels) If you have an MP3 Player (eg. iPod, Zune, etc), tell us: - brand / model - capacity - format (Mac or PC) - number and type of MP3s (VBR, CBR) and bitrates - storage setting - MSC (Mass Storage Class) or MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) If you are using a CD-ROM, tell us: - brand of the CDR - CDR or CDRW - what application you used to burn - what speed you burned at - ISO or UDF format - Mac or PC - number and type of MP3s (VBR, CBR) and bitrates - folder structure (0 levels, 1 level, 10 levels) If your problem is with Pioneer's DJS software: - Please go to the appropriate DJS Support Thread; they are pinned to the top of the DJS & Controllers forum. Read the first post for details, then ask your question in that thread. If your problem is with software (other than DJS): - post the title and version of the software - tell us what the problem is - Unless the problem is MIDI related, we might not be able to help you. Another forum member may have the answer you're looking for but perhaps you should try the software manufacturer's support network. Tips and help for finding the information requested above: Detailed MP3 info: Download and run MP3 Validator, or MediaInfo (PC only, sorry - I haven't found one for Mac yet.) Alternately, you could simply check the ID3 tags however the tags won't give you information on malformed headers, missing frames, etc. Drive Information: PC: Open My Computer and right-click on the drive, select "Properties" from the bottom of the menu. The format (file system) and capacity are listed right there. You can also see how much space is available. Mac: Select the drive and press Command-I. Format (file system), capacity and available space are listed. Folder Structure: Zero levels (g:\), one level of folders (g:\Disco\), two levels (g:\Artist\Album\) or three levels (g:\Beatport\2007\February\) - it all depends on how you sort your music. Any other issues, please first read the owner's manual and/or search this forum for an answer. If then you don't find one, please start a thread (don't forget to post your firmware version!) and we'll be happy to help you out. <Note: Edited 2008-05-20, changed link for MP3Check to MP3 Validator> This message has been edited.
