alright, can someone help me out here?
There is computer signal noises coming from my monitors (Stanton atm.6). When i connect my cdj 400`s to my laptop. I have the speakers conected through rca connections. Would getting a xlr connection or moving the speakers solve this problem, or is there a way of stopping the distortion? Has anyone else had a similar problem? Thanks! |

Try different cables first. I haven't had issues like this, but it sounds like a slight ground loop or hum. Are you using an internal/external soundcard.

i`m using an internal soundcard but was just reading about the ground loop in a previous topic just there, seems a 2 prong power supply worked. gonna try that tomorror see if it works!

The grounding pin exists for a reason. DO NOT remove it!
You might try reversing the polarity of the mixer's plug (flip it over in the outlet) or try unplugging the power supply for your laptop to see if that removes the hum. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

What that's telling you is you have a ground loop - more than one grounded item is creating a connected circuit which is acting as an antenna for 60Hz hum.
Have you tried connecting the audio gear to the same outlet (power strip) as the laptop? Perhaps an external soundcard might help towards a solution - internal cards are notoriously noisy. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

You can also think about getting a ground loop isolator - it's a little device you plug in between things that are causing ground loops. They're (supposed to be) sonically transparent and for like $50 they're one of the best things in your sound engineer's toolkit. Not a permanent solution (best to try to eliminate the ground loop rather than isolate it) but it works.
