A) You don't work for Pioneer (and neither do I).
B) You're not a registered Serato Beta Tester.

Complain later. Wink

Hey guys here is that link for serato http://www.scratchlive.net/forum/agreements/?g=2427&discussion_id=80519

It is a beta, as mentioned the main concern is the usb hub. If don't need the hub it seems to work. I'm going to download this tonight and work on it. I had a CDJ800 that I tested out, now its the CDJ400 turn. The reason the hub comes up is because on the macs there is only 2 usb ports, and you do tend to see serato lean that way.

I have a questoin for anyone? Iam currently looking at purchasing 2 decks...I have 3 possible choices and they are as follows

1)cdj 400's
2)Numark Icdx's
3)Denon 1200's

Which is best for a newby to the world of scrating with decks and also to using them with sofware

1) Please don't threadjack. This thread is dealing with the CDJ400 and Serato. You're asking about comparing hardware.

2) We can't discuss competitor's products here so of course we're going to tell you that the CDJ400s are the way to go. Razzer

They released an update for Serato 1.8.2. This addresses the USB hub issue and the CDJ400 is now officially supported. You have to update your firmware on the CDJ to 1.3.

I haven't had much time to play with it but it is pretty nice to have almost everything right on one surface. Could use more cue points though. I have the Rane TTM57 and I'm able to connect both my tech's and the CDJ as controllers without having to switch out hardware or anything in the settings. Pretty neat.

Correct - when you are using the player as a CONTROLLER, you don't have any of the onboard effects.

Well I've spent a little more time with the two and thought I share some of my thoughts.

First, the software seems solid. I have not had one stutter using the two. For the most part serato updates are usually pretty solid, hence the reason their software doesn't try to be too fancy. One thing to note at least with my system was when I did start it up(CDJ) it didn't kick into INT mode like the beta. NO big deal. Im usually in REL mode.

The actual layout of the control is pretty consistent with playing CD's so read the overview once and your ready to go. Again no stuttering when I press anything, cues, pause, loops.

Cues, you really only get one triggerm yeah you have the temp cue, but I think they miss the boat with no assigning anything to the effect buttons. This could have been used for cues or loops.

Loops are fun to play with, they take a little time to get used to though. It doesn't work exactly like the CDJ loops, honestly I like it better.

Now I don't know if this works outside of the have the TTM57(rane mixer), but I can have a turntable and the CDJ both on one channel. So I can blend a track with the CDJ -blending what DJ's use to do) and lets say there's a part I want to scratch with instead of using the platter on the CDJ, I can kick it into REL mode and start to scratch. No need to switch anything except from rel to int.

Speaking of the platter...It just doesn't seem as tight as when you have a cd or USB for that fact. The vinyl timecode is much tighter. Maybe it's just me, either way I can't see any real scratching going on with the platter, sorry.

Overall, if you have serato, having this CDJ is really worth it. It's small enough to bring to the club and show off how easy the two go together. Plus the scroll feature is solid, I use from time to time even though I have the rane mixer.

Maybe someone can answer this for me. Does the cue start work in this mode? I don't have pioneer mixer but I'm really thinking of getting the DJM800. Well just my thoughts... I'm glad I went with the CDJ400 over the CDJ800 when I was buying a CDJ. If you have serato you want this. MORE CUES though....

Want more cues? Try the + and - buttons.

Want to reverse instead of "censor" mode? Try HOLD and REV at the same time.

Want to use only one deck in "amputate" mode? Try HOLD and EJECT.

There are plenty of secrets to be discovered! Smiler

I tried the cue with the + and - and it didn't work.

The reverse instead of censor did work... Thanks.

But how do you do the cue? I pressed everything.

Thanks.

When you press the + and - it cycles through the loops, they may have removed it from the full release version, it worked in the pre-release edition.

Yes the + - does cycle through the loops, but I thought you wrote it gave you more cue triggers.

Any other hints????
