Pionner mixers aren't well knowed as scratch mixer.
Why ? because the crossfader curve is too soft. Redline show you what it's look like from factory.

Now we're going to change that
Tools needed

- Very soft pencil
- Cutter
- Scissors
- Tape

First, remove the xfader :

Then open it :

Take a piece of tape nad put it on the 2 tracks of the top

With 41 mm tape, you have 3mm on each side before hearing the other side. With a 43mm tape, you just have... ONE millimeter.
The hardest thing is to correctly center the tape in the interspace.

When finished, rescrew the whole assambly.
If for any reason your xfader have some troubles, just redraw the bottom track with the pencil

If you succed, you should obtain something like that (green curve)

Can this trick apply for DJM600, if I need more shorter the curve. And I'm not clear about the pencil things. What's that for?

Don't know for other DJM must be the same crossfader... If yes so go on.
The pencil help you had some carbon if you accidentaly remove some of the conductive tracks.

i can't see how it wouldn't work on the 500 or any other mixer that uses the contacts. bascially the tape makes the fader "bleed".

Thanks for taking the time to post this tip. However I have to put a disclaimer that doing this yourself will void your warranty if you damage it up or have troubles later. If your warranty has expired already then I guess it doesn't make a difference. You still must decide though if you want to take the chance of damaging your mixer.

if any of you try it, i wouldn't worry about the warranty getting voided. the great thing about it is you can always take the tape off--the "hack" is not permanent. also, consider fader wear probably isn't covered by the warranty anyway so you can just buy a new fader--i can't see it messing anything else up.

Perhaps I don't understand you but all Pio Mixers have at least a year all over the world. None have a month?
