Hi everyone. My 1st post so be gentle!
Tried mic channel #2 today and cant get any sound! Mic #1 works fine. Tried the same mic in both channels. Ive only had the djm for a few weeks and do really require 2 mics as I sometimes use a live percussionist as well as mc'ing. Bought the djm second hand and love it. Did notice that the power IEC lead to the mixer is a 2 pin (no earth). Supremesoundz London |

It won't matter if the connector is 2 pins or 3. Where that makes a difference is the length of the cable run and whether or not you'll have outside interference.
Provided your mic and cable are working properly, did you adjust the level for Mic2? Was the switch turned on? (Did you talk dirty to it?) Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

Hi, the mic I used, and the cable, is fine as it works 100% in mic channel 1. (XLR to jack lead as all the mics I use have XLR connections). The jack and mic should work in both channels...............

I assume you also checked that the Mic2 level was up (as I asked above)?

Hi yeh, the level was up. When you actually put the jack into mic 2, there is actually that slight 'blip' (the volume on the main mic is up) and then a hum from the mic channel, but no sound! Its weird to be honest. Ive not tried a different lead as I only have the one.

Yeah, you need to check another - could be a crossed wire.

Used a different mic lead and it works. I still fail to understand why the other lead didnt work in mic 2 but works in mic 1..!
Cheers anyway, yur help is appreciated. Going back to your first reply to this post, because the power connector (IEC) on the pioneer only has 2 pins, should I use a short power lead to avoid interference? many thanks |

It has to do with the wiring...
In a balanced 3 wire connection you have a shield with a twisted pair. In unbalanced 2 wire, you don't have the the twist, just a single line down the center. It could be that the shield and one of the pair were making contact thus nullifying the connection and canceling the signal. Your power connection won't create much interference so just leave it as-is. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |
