Hello all. I am trying to assign some midi controls to my 700, and although I am able to assign the controls, when I go to turn a knob or push a button my parameters go haywire. It seems that the midi signal is not focused on one parameter. For instance I am trying to assign my Channel 1 eq rotaries to TS's efx. When I go to turn one of the eqs assigned to an efx parameter, the whole efx section changes as if the midi signal is sending something to each effect. Has anyone had any success with this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You really need to drill down to each of the assignable MIDI parameters within Traktor - it's a complex system of menus which allows you to specify what does what and to what degree. Be sure you've selected the correct item and then tweak the type of control that it performs.

Ive tried to make it work but it seems my mixer sends out more than one cc message when i turn my knobs. For example when I am trying to set my midi controls and want to assign an fx parameter to the eq rotary, I get more than one cc when turning the knob. Is this how its supposed to work? Shouldnt I get one assignable cc to each destined parameter? Could there be something wrong with my mixer?

Are you on PC? If so, check out MIDI-OX (Google it) and open it up while playing around with the mixer to see what signals are being transmitted. It could be you're wiggling something else at the same time.

Try MidiPipe. I haven't used it but a quick Google search revealed it's existence. Looks like it does the same as Midi-Ox - which can display Midi messages in real time so you can see what's going on when you move a dial. That will confirm whether or not the mixer is sending out more than one CC at a time or if it's just some screwy software setting.

Mac has a MIDI Monitor app (can't remember if it's built-in or if I installed it myself).

I can actually see whats happening in traktor. When I move a knob i can see 2-3 cc values coming up into traktor when Im setting up parameters. I dont think this is right, do you guys think that this would warrant a replacement?

Please check it with the MIDI monitor first - and be sure that you're not touching other controls.

Hy guys,
I have also a problem with traktor scratch and my djm 800. I want to assign the fader start button to loop on/off in traktor.. I know already that the fader start buttons on the djm 800 sends 127->0 - and so i must press it twice to switch loop on/off. The same thing did my uc33.Then I configured the uc33 to send just 127 every time a button is pressed and then things worked well. But how can i also adjust the settings on my djm 800 ? I tried midipipe to change the output signal - it also lets me see that the djm 800 sends exact the same signal as the uc33 but on the uc33 it works and on the djm800 i have to press the button twise - just like before.. Can you help me please guys ;-) ?? |

Well yes and no... if I recall (sorry, don't have it on this machine), within Traktor you can adjust what kind of MIDI signal it is (towards the bottom of the properties for that MIDI mapping).
You can't change the DJM800's parameters, sorry. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

yeah - but in traktor you can only choose hold and trigger as midi mode..
and for both modes the fader start buttons don't work.. i have to press them two times - just before.. but as said, with midipipe it works - so i keep that program ;-) thx nevertheless |

Yeah, that's the one - sorry, I couldn't remember if they had the option to do a "toggle" as you can in Ableton. MIDI remappers are great.

Pulse, what am i checking exactly the midi monitor? On my macbook or any apple computer for that matter it only checks to see that the computer is receiving a midi signal.

It will also show the signal information; what the code is, the value, the time, etc. See that you only have information for that one control coming in when you press that one button or turn one knob. You shouldn't see multiple codes for different controls when only one control is being manipulated.

Thanks Pulse but Im not sure what you are referring to. Are you on a mac? Are you talking about Audio Midi Setup in Utilities? If you are you cant check any values only if there is a midi signal. Now in traktor it shows clearly what midi values the knobs are giving me, which explains the erratic behavior of traktor when i twist a knob. Is there another program mac compatible that can show me cc values when using midi?

Apps > Utilities > MIDI Monitor. I can't remember if this app is default with the OS or if I installed it there!

Midi Monitor is a downloadable app. It is not a part of OSX. Audio Midi Setup is in Utilities and it does not give you any details besides letting you know a connection is being made.
