I own a DJM-500 Mixer and was wondering if there is any way of altering the Crossfader Curve from a 'Smooth Fading' style curve (for beat-mixing) to a more 'Cuting' style (for scratching) ?? - I use the Imput Faders & EQ's if I beat mix, so I'd rather have the crossfader just for scratching.

I know this Curve can be altered on the DJM - 600, but unfortunetly I'm not in a position to upgrade.

Thanks v/much

only advice i could give u is crossfade while using the channel volume fader to emulate a different curve. Or just not use da crossfader at all and use only the channel faders.

Takes time to master but i've seen big name djs to it all the time

Sorry looks like there's no alternative

i'm not positive, but it looks like a technics sh-dj1200 fader would work in it...

That would definitely void your warranty (putting parts from different manufacturers in it). And could potentially cause problems. Proceed at your own risk.

isnt the crossfader a user servicable part anyway? seeing as the djm's only use a simple carbon xfader the old carbon scratch and tape tricks would work without modifiying the xfader significantly

I can say I don't know much about the internals of the cross-fader. I just wanted to give the standard "proceed with caution" warning.

I've just unscrewed the Crossfader and had a quick look at the internals ... I quickly decided that I definetly DON'T want to mess around with it.

Cheers 4 the advice everyone. I really like this using this mixer (apart from the Crossfader of course), so I don't want to purchase one by another manufacturer.

My only option now may be to trade it in for the DJM-600. I've only had the 500 six months, so I hope I can still get a good Trade-In price.
