There are occasional reports of bad units, but sending it out and getting it back with a new problem? Not likely.

Pioneer quality control can't catch everything, and in mass-produced units there will be the occasional bad apple. But keep something in mind if you search the forum here and come up with some people who have similar complaints - look at the relative small number of people with complaints vs. the large number of people who buy Pioneer gear. There's far less than 1% of Pioneer users who ever have a problem. The trick is, almost no one posts any "non-complaints" - i.e. after 4 years of use (or something) no one pipes up and says "oh BTW, I've had such and such for 4 years without a problem. Just thought you all should know."

Sorry for your predicament, good luck with it. Pio gear is well-known for it's good quality construction and durability, I think you just got one bad apple. Hope it doesn't ruin the experience for you.

Also keep in mind - your unit may have eaten a power surge or something similar and fried, not something that Pioneer could have had control over. I hope not, but it's possible.

James, when you sent it in for repair, did you...

a) send it to an authorized repair center?
b) give them a FULL list of ALL the problems?
c) ship it in the original packaging or if not, suitable packaging which wouldn't cause further damage?
d) on return of the unit, receive a list of work done?
e) get the unit back in the same packaging - or better?
f) check your power supply?

There's a few things which could be the problem or at least contriubted to it.

Most retailers have a 15 or 30 day return policy, if there's a major problem they will replace the unit, after that it has to be handled by the manufacturer's warranty repair (which is 1 year for Pioneer).

As this isn't a technical support forum, you're going to have to get in touch with Pioneer UK's tech department in order to get any real assistance. Sorry!

James, crap or no crap, sh!t happens to all sorts of products all over the world, there's no point in getting P-O'd about it - the more difficult you make things the less likely people are to help you.

I would suggest you get in contact with Pioneer technical support in the UK and explain to them what has happened and see how you can resolve it. This isn't a tech support forum, nobody from tech support even reads these forums so unfortunately, this is as far as we can go to do anything for you.
