I just bought a djm-800 and am having a problem. Ive got it hooked up digitally to my cdj's and out to my amp. I then have RCA cables going from the REC out to my computer. The problem I'm having is Im getting a bunch of background noise in my recordings. any ideas on how I can fix this?

I'll bet it's 99% your computer. What kind of soundcard are you using?

Im pretty sure its not my computer. it worked fine with my djm-600. Im using a creative external usb sound card hooked to my laptop.

Creative isn't exactly the cream of the crop for quality soundcards, but as it's an external, it's going to result in better audio than internal cards.

Do you have the DJM800 and the computer both connected to the same electrical circuit?

yes, should they be separated? The other weird thing is Im still getting noise through my speakers even when my mixer is turned off, but only when the RCA's are hooked up to the record out. Confused

Normally, I'd say no (because of a ground loop across circuits), but try separating them and see if that helps.

Does it happen when any of the input devices are connected to the mixer (whether it's powered or not)?

so this issue has seemed to have sorted itself. all I did was unplug my cdjs and then plug them back into the mixer and the noise went away. weird, huh?

anyways, thanks for your help pulse.
