Hi guys,
Because of the dealers here in sweden seem to only promote the djm-400 and djm-800 I haven't been able to try the djm-700 out. The up/down roll + the filter function makes me want to choose it over the 800. Reason to my following questions is that the 800 is the one to find at 99% of the clubs/parties here. I'm wondering if there are any "other" differences between the 700 and 800 than those listed in specs etc. Will every function that are on the both mixers work _exactly_ the same way? Effects with their paramaters, timers, beat selectors etc. Does the faders and knobs feel the same? I now use a djm-400 at home and I think the knobs on that one feels a lot more stable than the rubber ones on the 800. Maybe any other issues? Thanks in advance! |

No, the knobs and faders feel slightly different. The 700 feels more like a 600 whereas the 800 feels "better".
As far as the minor things go, that's it, the mixers perform the same without having the same specs / features. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

the echo comes on different on the 700 than on the 800. on the 800, you turn the effect on then it echos everything after. on the 700 once you hit the button it sounds like the echo is already goin.

Knobs and faders feel good, the 700 channel faders are not "stiff" like the 800's. I believe the 800 faders are better quality. The echo works differently, in my opinion works better, like the old 500 and 600. No digital ins but there is a spdif rca out. Not sure but I think the 700 has more efx than the 800. The 800 has rubber knobs but so does the 700, it has a mixture of both, rubber where it counts on the eqs. I personally feel the 700 is a mixer people are sleeping on. Its perfect for your own personal use if you dont need a pure digital signal path, ie turntables. The ADDA conversion is supposed to be the same in both the 800 and 700. The 700 is more fun to use, less knob twisting for me. I dont know why but i was never attracted toward the color effects of the 800, just never really sounded that cool to me. I really like the filter on the 700, especially over other effects. And the 700 does have the crush effect in case you were wondering. I had the 800 before switching to the 700. I would only buy the 800 again if I needed the digital ins. But Im still using turntables

Thanks for answering guys.
I forgot to mention that I also use turntables only, so the digital inputs is nothing I need. I haven't looked at the color effects that much. Probably many people are using them, but as I said i think the filter will be much more fun. Regarding the faders not being stiff.. are they more like the faders on the 400? Because those faders are much "lighter" than the ones on the 800. To summarize what I'm messing about is that I wanna be sure there won't be any "big" issues to get to a club, play on the 800 when you have practised 100% on the 700 at home. Actually pretty strange that the echo doesn't work the same on the both mixers. What's the point in that? People switching from 800 to 700 is a good sign though! |

regarding the knobs they are prob like the 400,500, and 600. you shouldnt face any big issues unless you mess around with the echo. Read about the differences in efx and youll get a better idea.

If your not using the color effects then go with the 700. If your into the stiffer channel faders then the 800.
Actually for the TT DJ I would get the 909 hands down, the best fader on the market and some sick effects...... Pioneer National Trainer & Product Specialist |
