Arrival of the 700, surely. I'd guess Pio want to stop making this baby soon if they haven't already (it probably costs more to make than the 700), and it needs to be priced keenly enough to shift the stockpile.

I wouldn't say that's the case - more that it's a mixer which has been on the market for many years and given that there is a lot more competition now (even from an increased Pioneer lineup) it's hard to justify charging the same for it.

You wouldn't say that's the case because you're biased.
Yes the mixer has lots of features and gimmicks but at the detriment to the audio quality (search any DJ equipment forum). Pioneer make good CD decks but for mixers I would suggest people do their own reasearch and try a few different makes out first. |

Keep in mind that when it came out it had the best sound quality on the market. Or close to it. There's a reason it got implemented in many clubs around the world.

I know the 600 sounds like crap now, but as Ryan says, it didn't when it came out and there are more reasons than sound quality that it still sells.
You don't see people buying XYZ brand vehicles just because they handle well. Other factors come into play such as style, interior, engine, braking, safety... etc. Same with the mixers and the 600 is an established club favourite. Pioneer National Trainer // Product Specialist |

whoa whoa slow down a minute.. i'm about to buy a 600! it sounds ilke crap? says who and compared to what? doesn't the p.a. your running your mixer through effect sound quality? wouldn't that make the issue of the units sound quality objective? i'm using a discontinued vestax now (pcv-275); anybody care to venture an opinion as to whether i can expect better or worse sound quality from the 600?

Don't know as I've never A/B'd it against that model but compared to most newer mixers, the DJM600 sounds muddier. Some jocks like that tho.

I have a PCV275 also right now... Decent mixer for its price  Anyway, the DJM600 colours your music somewhat... But it doesn't crappy according to me. If you keep your levels within in the green region there'll be no problem dude... |

Well, I am due for an upgrade soon. I have been using the 600 for more than three years and it's an improvement from my PS626 mixer.
My next mixer will be all rotary and audiophile. Before 2010 I hope to get the E&S DJR400. |
