USB-drives while in HID-Rekordbox-mode

Is possible to use my USB-drives while in Rekordbox HID mode, instead

of using the music files on my PC, and what is the purpose of Link-mode

if you can only use the USB-drives and link together other devices?

(should be able to have access to usb & music files on the PC)

maybe I'm just not understanding both functions as being different?

Also, why does the rekordbox-hid-mode not use my CDJ2000nxs2 it's only gives me access to the DJM900nxs2's to date I have not been able to use the CDJ's instead of the DJM? however I get the waveform on the CDJ's as well as the list of music in my playlist folder.....It must be using both if I see the music playlist

and the waveform on the CDJ,

I hate that Trakor  only give the waveforms on the PC screen and not on the CDJ's the waveforms is one thing that Rekordbox & VirtualDJ got right

HID mode means you're using your CDJ as a controller.  If you are using USB drives, then you don't need to be in HID mode.  The Link button you see on the CDJ is not a  "mode." It allows your CDJ to read the USB content of another CDJ that it is "linked" to via an ethernet cable.  Take a browse through your owner's manual to get more details.  The NXS2 system is fully supported for HID mode.  Check to make sure you're using the proper drivers on your computer and that you've got the latest firmware installed on the CDJs and DJM.
