Sorry, what's the problem in using the line inputs for other sources?
Regarding the microphone, just get one with an XLR connection - virtually anything will do.
Hi,
Tech expert required, I have the following challenges:
I want to add a switch on each phono channel of my XDJ-RX to allow myself to mix tracks from other sources (such as streaming on Spotify from a phone on the rare occasion I don't own a digital or vinyl copy). As far as I can see, there isn't an aux option.
I also want to connect one of my decks to an external phono pre-amp as well as the XDJ-RX as I don't want to be dependent on the DJ controller for listening to albums when not mixing.
I'm unsure on the best way of doing the above.
Finally (unrelated) - I have a microphone and at first glance, I think this has a USB connection. Can this be used with the XDJ-RX or do I need to buy another? If so, can you recommend something? (It's for recording radio shows).
THANKS! :)

I currently have a turntable plugged into each phono channel.
I want to add another aux input to allow me to play files from other (streaming?) sources.
I also want to add another output from my turntable to an external phono pre-amp so I'm not 100% reliant on my XDJ-RX being switched on for playing records.
Does that make sense?
Cheers.
you could use an old HiFi amp that has a "phono" preamp built in, plug one of your turntables into that and your other sources into the remaining inputs eg CD, Tuner etc
take a feed out of the tape out of the amp and plug it into your RX's line in, set the RX's selector switch to line in (not phono) and use the amp as a switch/preamp buy changing the source in buttons
OBVS don't feed the RX back into the same amp or you'll open up a wormhole into another dimension, that or just mental feedback :-)
