Question about checking a CDJ on a plane in a flight case

I'm looking to transport two CDJ-900 nxs on an overseas flight from the US to Europe.

If I am using ATA compliant Flight Cases should I have any real worry about about damage by them being dropped or tossed around?

Has anyone ever done this and had them damaged in a flight case form an airline or what was your experience?

Thank you.

I would strongly recommend against checking the flight case with the players, count on that it will be tossed, dropped etc. and you will not get any compensation if the equipment breaks.

But there's a safe way to fly with CDJ's, for the 900 NXS do as follows: Get a blue IKEA tote bag, small model, and to cloth tote bags. At the airport, put the CDJ's in the cloth tote bags and then in the IKEA bag. They will fit quite perfectly. Then pack your other stuff in the flight case and check it, the IKEA bag will be your hand luggage.

That's interesting. I've been thinking of a way to get them in a carry-on size bag that is safe enough. I also thought of checking 2 bags with the  CDJ's in flight cases - but packed in them (with extra padding around the flight case packed into the suit case).
