No LINK pane showing in Rekordbox

Hi,

Here's my setup:

2 x XDJ-700 v1.13

1 x Rekordbox v5.0.3

1 x MacBook Pro 2017 macOS Sierra 10.12.6

1 x TP-Link TL-SF1005D Desktop Switch

1 x Arktek Ethernet to USB-C adapter

3 x working ethernet cables

Here's my problem:

No matter what I do, I can't get the LINK pane (and therefore my XDJs) to show in Rekordbox. I've tested all possible configurations, I've tested all the kit, I've tested all the cables. Everything seems to recognise each other and connect except when I open Rekordbox and there is no LINK pane at the bottom for me to connect and access my music from the XDJs (screenshot available). I'm not bothered about DVS or performance mode - just accessing my library.

I have the XDJs running via ethernet in to ports 2 and 3 on the switch with the laptop connected via the adapter into port 1.

The XDJs link to each other with no problems both via the switch and directly but they equally do not show in Rekordbox when I connect them directly to the laptop. I suspected the ethernet to USB-C adapter might be the problem but when I connect each piece of kit individually to the laptop they all register in my network settings and self-assign an IP (see below comment).

I have no firewall enabled on this laptop and when I do connect each individual XDJ or the switch, they all trigger an appearance in my network settings (screenshot available).

I can't seem to find an exact match of this issue on the forums hence me posting this. I'm literally at my wits end now and hoping I've missed something obvious!

Please help!

Thanks, Nick.

Nick Ronin

Sorry, but we can't guarantee the performance of the link with 3rd-party network adapters. I would recommend you first try using an official Apple brand adapter.

Apple don't seem to do their own, rather they sell a Belkin item. I've ordered one to see if it works. Thanks.

You must have misread my kit list. I have a Macbook Pro 2017 with USB-C ports only hence the need for a USB-C to Ethernet adapter, not standard USB.

No, I understood that -- what you need to be using is a USB C-to-USB 3 adapter / hub.

I think I see. So are you suggesting the following?

- 2 x XDJ via ethernet cable to my switching hub

- 1 ethernet cable from the hub to an Ethernet to USB-3 adapter

- 1 USB-3 to USB-C adapter in to my laptop

If this is the case I'm struggling to see what introducing an extra adapter in to the chain will achieve. Maybe you could explain your reasoning for this?

Thanks.

I know that the Apple USB-Ethernet adaptor DOES work, that's why. ;)

Right, ok. This is getting expensive! I'll see if I can get it working this way. Thanks for your help so far.

Sorry! If I knew the other (USB-C) adapters worked, that would be one thing, but I'm not able to confirm whether that's the issue or not - but we do know that Apple's USB-to-Ethernet adapter does work, even when connected to a USB C-to-USB 3/2 hub.
