CDJ 2000NXS2 USB vs SD reading speed

I do not find information if the NXS2 is USB3.0.

If the NXS2 is still USB2.0 -> why I would buy SD card ?? USB got much more better reading speed.

SanDisk Cruzer Glide USB 2.0 reading speed 24.44 MB/Sec

SanDisk SDHC 32 GB reading speed 4MB/Sec

Anyone got experience with mediums with good reading speed and the cdj nxs2?

If the cdj would be USB3.0 i could buy:

SanDisk Portable SSD 3.0 reading speed 340 MB/Sec !!!! (but USB 3.0)

* I know there are better SD cards, but the manual says the NXS2 only supports SDHC with max 32 GB.

The NXS2 (and all current products) are only USB2.0 as the maximum bandwidth of four 24bit/96kHz WAV / AIFF streams (4608kbps per stream / 18432kbps for all 4) are still well below the throughput of USB2's theoretical maximum of 491520kbps).

Why you want to buy a USB3.1 (or 3.0) device to store your music is the write speed from your computer. Why sit around waiting for music to export when you can purchase a high-speed drive that takes mere minutes to write gigabytes worth of audio?

Yes, the SD max is 32GB on an SDHC, those are convenient for size, but not performance. Go with a fast USB drive instead.

As I posted in another thread the other day...

Personally, I use the SanDisk Extreme Pro or Corsair Flash Voyager GTX USB drives as both of them have SSD controller chipsets to manage the memory for amazing read/write performance. They are certainly more pricey, but that cost is well worth not waiting around to export music to the device.

If you're going to that price point, you may also want to consider the Glyph ATOM, and the Samsung T3, two reasonably small but ridiculously fast SSD drives.

I use SD cards as backups and mainly leave them in the decks.... Is there a reason there's only a 32GB Max on the SD cards? I wish it was higher

Format limitation of the card reader hardware, and possibly some other technical reasons I'm not aware of.

ya I never understood that, digital cameras & other devices can access much bigger SD card storage, I was hoping there was a reason

Back when the SD was first added to the CDJ-2000, the SDXC had just come out, so it wasn't too mainstream or widely available. I think what happened since then is they've left SD compatibility in the units without upgrading simply for those who already use them, but most DJs are using USB drives because they write faster and DJs are less likely to leave them behind.

No lies, I know a DJ who takes off one of his shoes whenever he plays with SD cards because he'd easily walk out without his SD card, but he would never leave the DJ booth without one of his shoes. ;)
