Hello Rekordbox users in this Pioneer universe.
Some years ago i started DJing with the DDJ SR Serato controller.
But finally i got an adult controller XDJ RX 2. Ha ha.
Of course i migrated my things to Rekordbox on my brand new iMac 2017 model as well, but the software is so slow compared to Serato. I mean... So slow that the software already annoys me to use?
I imported all my tracks into playlists. The music files is placed on an external harddrive running USB 3.0 (I have about 4500 songs)
I have been trough the analyze process and synced all my tracks to a USB drive for the controller, men when i am "surfing/moving" around in Rekordbox it's so heavy navigating - I get the rainbow color loading wheel very often.. It's just not running smooth... Some kind of laggy.
I saw the "Full Rekordbox Guide" video on YouTube. He has much much much more music than i have, but his Rekordbox software running so smooth and fast. I noticed he was using an older version. YOUTUBE LINK
What could cause the problem? Its not an excuse for me that the original music files is handled by an external harddrive, because Serato handles this without any problem at all..
I am so dissapointed about Rekordbox in first impressions compared to the speed of Serato.
Its very unfortunate, because i am so exited about the XDJ RX2 - The most beautiful controller ever tried with the sweet nexus design and so on..
But my first impressions with the speed of Rekordbox is a damn for me right now.
Hope anyone have a quick tip or a solution. It should really not be a problem with the strength of my Macs, since i am running some powerfull hardware setups.

Is your external drive a conventional drive or solid-state?
Is it possibly going to sleep / standby?
Same Issue on my Side.
Migrated from another Software after buying the new DDJ-1000 (awesome Device by the Way!).
Just changing Playlists in the Menu Shortcuts sometimes takes up to 5-10 seconds in Performance Mode.
The loading wheel is shown very often.
Sometimes i may not even select these Shortcuts by clicking on them. If it happens i click on another list next to it and then again on the one i really wanted to select.
All feels very laggy and unsmooth. I felt very uncomfortable many many times during my first night at the club with Rekordbox and that controller. The Audiooutput however seemed to be flawless and rockstable.
My Machine is a MacBook Pro late 2012 with I7, 16GB with all Files on internal SSD.
The OS-X is the latest Sierra Version.
The Machine is/was of cause optimised for DJing. All Powersaving Options on the Machine are disabled. 2 Other DJ Apps from "competitors" on the same Machine do not show this behaviour.
The DDJ-1000 is running on FW 1.03. A pair of CDJ-2000NXS was also connected.
