DJM 900 Nexus Getting HOT
Hi Pulse,
The last couple of gigs (4) I did noticed my DJM 900 Nexus to get really hot to the touch on the board? When I threw a fan on it I could smell the board but I did not see any smoke or anything looking like it was having issues like burning just really hot. My gigs last between 3 - 6 hours and I would say I was about an hour into the set.
My set up includes my Nexus on a Odyssey CTBC2060 DJ Work Surface table, it is taken out of its Odyssey case. I connect it to a Furman M-8LX Power Conditioner. I use XLR out to Mackie SRM1801 Subs and EV ZLX P Speakers. The speakers are usually connected to a separate circuit. I connect my MAC Laptop via usb (Traktor).
I had never encountered this before and after looking at the forum boards I did not see anything listed so this is why I am posting. I was wondering if you have heard of anything??? Maybe I have a wrong setting or something.
Any ideas are appreciated...

I ended up selling it and moving on to a DJM850 no issues since.
The mixers will get warm to the touch (hot, if they are in a foam-padded case), but there is usually no problem in operation even when they are warm.
Pulse, I am talking HOT not Warm. Does not seem to be right with a mixer which is out of the foam padded case. I use a CTBC2060 Black CARPET Table. That could be the issue.
Yeah, they can get hot - but not "burning hot - I can't touch it" hot.
Correct, Although I don't have the unit anymore before I sold it into the second hand market I did do some research - Mostly Trial and error - and found some of the Fx settings will cause this by leaving them on without using them. For instance having a echo effect setting in the background on. To try and solve this problem I set the setting(s) to off and the unit ran much cooler. I guess you could call it warn but not hot to the touch.
The key issue was one time I could actually smell the board it got so hot. Not Good.
Anyway I hope my two cents help. I have a DJM850 now and cannot reproduce this and do not have this issue.
