live BPM detection from audio on recent or older hardware

Hi Djs,

as a jazz musician I have a task for which you might be the best experienced guys around.

I want a machine to take the beat from live music audio, i.e. analyze the signal and generate some midi clock or voltage control output signal that will drive my sequencers.

I've read something about the DJM-800 and that is said to have a reliable algorithm and so on. But then I found some other devices that might have it too and so on and I am left confused. I know that the korg kaoss series and the redsound soundbite proclaim to to it too. But the brand name of pioneer sounds quite solid to me.

As this very special task would be really the only purpose for me to use that pioneer dj machine it would be nice to find some old and affordable gear that just has this one feature I need: read out beat, generate signal.
