Ive had my DJM500 for around 9 years now and ive only ever had replaced the channel sliders. Recently the sound quality drops after a few hours and over the last couple of weeks the wait until this happens is going shorter. Ive tried alternates to my external sound card and amplifier. I doubt it will be my speakers as it happens to both (2) speakers. As it happens after a few hours i can only assume its something to do with over-heating? Unfortunately i dont have an alternate mixer to confirm it is the mixer itself but by process of elimination ive come to this conclusion. To give you as close to a specific description, its like playing a track on your iPod and then putting it under a pillow, it dubs everything. So then i have to push up the high/mid range EQ's in a 'make-shift' attempt to balance it, but it still sounds rather awful!
I wonder if anyone else has had similar issues with this model or other models from the DJM series and if they have any solutions before i have to spend a considerable amount on a new mixer?

Sounds to me like you have some failing components in the mixer - after 9 years, that's expected. You should take it to be serviced or send it in to Pioneer for servicing, either way, contact technical support via the links at the right and they can direct you further.
