Provide as much detail of the issue here:

When I'm exporting my 12,5K track library to an external HD, everything goes well right up to completion, when RB hangs with a 'Program not responding' error. No choice but to close the application. When I start up again, I find all my files have been transferred...all but ONE. There's one file missing on the external HD. After a couple of tries I noticed that while exporting tracks, RB suddenly displays the message 'Analysing 1 track' in the lower left corner of the screen, which I find strange because all my tracks have been analysed when importing into the RB library. I reckon one of the tracks could have become corrupted, but I can't figure out how to locate that one file. I analysed my entire internal HD and all files for corruptions (chkdsk) but no errors show. And I don't have an easy way to find the missing file in the 12,5 library, do I? I can't compare folders as my internal HD track collection is about 50K tracks... Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

@Chris > It's possible that the single file has an issue that may be detected with an MP3val scan; have you run that on your library?  Chkdsk is good for physical disk and O/S data problems, but doesn't actually scan the files themselves for errors that may cause such issues.

Thanks Pulse! Could have thought of that...I'll give it a try right away. There's no easy way to identify which file is missing right? In a RB log file for example?

i assume when you do a 'find missing files' all files are found?

@Matt: yep, because all files are found on my internal HD. I don't know how to find the one corrupt file that's in the RB collection and playlist but is not on the external HD... But I'm validating all MP3s now and will do a full export once again. Hope that solves it!

@Pulse: I validated my collection (a lot of files had to be fixed...thanks for the tip!) and tried again. RB still crashes when exporting from the Playlist pane. I also tried exporting by selecting all files from the Collection pane, and then there's no crash and the number of files matches on both sides. Strange, but a workaround that works for me. I tried to find the difference between the 'old' and the 'new' way of exporting, but can't seem to pinpoint the (or any, for that matter) missing file using a random sync/compare tool. I stopped trying to get to the bottom 'cause every action on a 50K file collection and 12,5K file playlists takes a lot of time... Thanks for your help!

@Chris > Have you tried importing in batches instead of "all at once"?  At least that way you could narrow it down a bit...

@Pulse: Yep, tried that. I accepted the fact that I might be missing the one track; it's not that big a deal to spend a lot of time on...while I could have been spinnin' the decks and having fun! So thanks for baring with me on this matter and all your suggestions...I'm still a happy RB user and will post again if I ever find out what causes the different file counts/missing file!
