DDJ S1/T1 - compared to CDJs?

The design and layout are obviously very similar and it's easy enough to compare the features, but there are a couple of points I've not been able to clear up.

  • Are the pitch faders the same size & feel?

  • Are the jog wheels a similar feel & sensitivity (forgetting their smaller size of course!)

Essentially I'd like to be able to use a DDJ for practice and yet feel totally at home on a pair of CDJ1000/2000/900 if I'm out in a club.

Is that feasible?

I buyd the T1 about 2years ago and the controller is realy Handy if you like to start in Native Instruments Traktor (.. in case you would not like to use the Sample Decks)

The T1 Equals in a Look and feel way as Pioneer DJM 500 and 2 CDJ400 - but thats only my view  :D

The Jogs are Handy - you have to Press them down (not like the Touch Jogs from the CDJ2000)

Knobs are Realy Pioneer Feeling - same as the pitch Fader Smoothe and very accurat.

i´m very proud to say that i recorded : 281 Houres in Live DJ-Live Sets.

Most of them in a small BAR near my Home Town.. just for Music and Drinks :)

But actualy i would Buy an DDJ-SZ - it should Equal the NEXUS 900 and the CDJ2000 sooo Close :)

cheers rob, really wanna feel 100% at home on 1000s/2000s so will probably just go for 1000s with a DVS - cheaper than the SZ!

1000s with dvs will never give you the feel of 900/2000 setup, even if you are planning to always use a dj software in your set.

Whys that Fabio? What would you say the differences are?

I've used 2000s and 1000s a handful of times and the feel very similar to me, the jogwheel and pitch fader seemed pretty much identical.

Obv the 2000 has extra features but they're in no way essential.

whoops.. my bad. to me "feel" was more than just the physical feedback. i read it as you were meaning the workflow. i would be worried about that and not about the resistance of faders, knobs and jogs.

cool that's good to know, thanks.

would appreciate some of the new features (esp slip mode!)

but the 1000 has enough to get to grips with straight mixing and i'll be able to migrate when i need.
