DDJ-WEGO Not detected by Windows 7 64 bit when USB plugged in

I purchased my Wego a year ago and it was working flawlessly in Windows 7/64 Bit with VDJ 7.  I used it daily without any failiures.  I took a break from using the controller placing it on a self and within that 4 month break, I had to reinstall windows.

This week I tried using the controller again and it will not detect.  I have tried it on my windows 8 desktop, same thing.

I have reinstalled windows on my laptop 10 times now, with drivers, service pack and proper Asio driver offered by PioneerDJ.com, following the correct procedure of installing the driver before connecting the unit and still nothing.

In the 10 reinstalls I was able to get the unit to work only 3 times but after shutting down the laptop, it will not be seen at all.

The Unit has never been dropped nor any spills on it.  It gets power and the LED sequence seems to follow its correct pattern until windows detection and fails.

Is it the unit or is it something I am doing wrong... Please help, I do not really want to spend the money on a new unit when I only have had it for a year.

@Tim > My first suggestion would be to try and upgrade the firmware, but if you can't get the hardware detected by the computer, that's a bit of an issue. I would recommend you first try looking in the Device Manager. (If you're not sure how to open the device manager, look here.)

The easiest way to find it would be to go to View > Devices by Connection:

You'll then need to open several branches of the tree to find the USB bus / hub chipsets (sometimes listed under PCI). You may locate the WeGO under one of those. If it IS listed, run the firmware update utility and then report back and let me know how you've made out and if it's connecting regularly or intermittently.

I have followed  your directions and it still will not detect in windows at all.

Now you did ask about connectivity regular or intermittent.  Over the last 3 days and the 10 reinstalls (which I am no longer going to do because I know its not the laptop having tested this on my desktop as well) It would connect and allow performance, then upon shutdown of the unit or windows, it would go back to not detecting.  However, the last time I was able to get it to detect, which was yesterday, the unit froze like it it had a driver and or application crash while music was playing, left wheel LED kept spinning, right one was off, no other lights visible.  I am more than convinced at this point, by trying multiple USB cables, computers and OS enviroments that the unit has self corrupted its firmware by not allowing connection anymore.

final question.. does the unit itself have a hard reset (restore default) key combination in order to kinda wake up the firmware to allow me to undo possible firmware corruption?  The unit itself is a solid piece of kit, however I would say that the firmware is less than desirable as far as durability is concerned if it fails just outside of the 1 year warranty.

@Tim > It's unlikely that firmware corruption occurred due to crashes or multiple connects / disconnects. Do you have another computer (perhaps a friend) where you could test it / update the firmware?

I have 2 desktops and a laptop.. the 2 desktops are windows 8.1 (which deliver the same no connection results) and my windows 7 64 bit laptop.  I don't see how it would be the computers themselves.  As well as I have sated, the USB cables have been changed and attempted others.. which are known to work on other devices, (IE printer)

@Tim > And you have the same result with all three computers that the WeGO does not appear in the device list?

That is affirmative.  Please forgive me I am not publicly trashing the unit or your company.  I loved the Wego. Just a little frustrated that it went to Pioneer heaven without me...

lol - Sorry, I understand the frustration.

If you have the WeGO connected, do any of the lights come on at all?

I'm also assuming that opening up the version detector only shows you the driver version and not the WeGO firmware version?

the Led pattern goes through each button until jog wheel pulse, where the unit is supposed to detect in windows, and on failure the only 2 LEDs are the jog wheels.  I have also tried starting the unit but holding the 2 cue buttons in the middle.. when I do that, both VU meters pulse up and down for  Firmware flash but still no detection.
