issue with ddj-sx2 ejecting my extrenal drives in mid song

3 times tonight.  mid song my hard drives ejected and restarted.  this is the first night using the ddj (upgraded from a denon mc600m2)  using the same EXACT setup minus the controller.  my pc is a HP dv7 with dial video cards, 8gb ram, win 8.1, i7 processor.   why is it doing this.  also using VDJ8

@Max > How is everything connected (USB-wise)? Are you using a hub? If so, is it powered?

No Hub.  plugged directly into laptop.  Only things plugged in is one powered external drive, the controller and a usb mouse

What is the make / model of the external drive and have you checked it for errors? Has it ever disconnected before?

its a seagate 4tb.  it has never disconnected before.  its a weird thing as i don't know how switching controllers can cause this bizarre issue

It shouldn't, unless somehow you were drawing too much power and the USB circuit reset itself. Do you have more than 2 USB ports on that computer? If so, you likely have multiple USB chipsets and. I would suggest trying to move either device to the other port-set.

The controller shouldn't be causing that to happen -- any chance you can test it with Serato while I ask the engineers to investigate?

The other thing you might try (to narrow down the problem) is to re-connect your MC600 and see if the problem exists in that combination.

The engineers are uncertain that the SX2 is the problem and unfortunately as it's not a Pioneer product or related software which is having the issue, they can't provide much assistance with the drive disconnecting.

I would try the troubleshooting per my last post and see if you can find a common thread. If it does indeed get narrowed down to the SX2, I'd be happy to report back to the engineers but at this time they feel it's not a problem with the controller.
