[SOLVED] DDJ SZ and Ableton Live

hello, I've seen only one other post regarding a similar issue with a Mac and using all outputs. I'm on a Windows 7 Machine, and although i can route audio through channel 1 of SZ from windows (for normal output like a media player, chrome, etc.) i want to use the SZ with ableton and other asio supported software. However the SZ does not show up. i have tried using ASIO4ALL but i still only see a pair of outputs and a pair of inputs. Any help would be appreciated, as i know the SZ has 10 in and 10 out connections for signals to be sent.

(Moderatpors, move post if necessary as i am new, and havent seen anyone else ask this)

Thanks in advance,

CHEERS!!!

Are you possibly running the 64bit version of Ableton? Currently, the SZ drivers are only 32bit and as such, the device will not appear within a 64bit application.

yes its a 64 bit version. so is there any expectations for a firmware/driver upgrade so the sz will, be 64 bit compatable?

Until such time as Pioneer releases a 64bit driver, you should use the 32bit version of the application. Unfortunately we don't have a timeline on driver release at this time.

So you're telling me that I need to reinstall and setup a 32 bit version of my daw simply because there isn't a fix? I just noticed somebody else asked the same about a week ago (sorry for creating a separate thread). Is there any fix to get the sound card to run in 32 bit while the application can run in 64 bit and use more than 4gb of memory on the computer? I know you have no control over this, but I just find it odd that a company like pioneer isn't keeping up with software standards... My $2000 controller can only be used in 32 bit applications???

@Roy > Even the most taxing of performances using 4 channels of video plus effects would require less than the available 2GB of RAM (per application when running on a 64bit host). A DAW is a valid heavy-use application where 64bit memory addressing becomes more necessary, especially when layering VSTs. Unfortunately, your $2000 DJ controller is designed, marketed, and sold to work with the former - the DJ application, not the latter.

Pioneer is keeping up with software standards. Until recently, no professional DJ application was even available in 64bits. Native Instruments is the first of the major manufacturers to release Traktor as a 64bit version, presumably ramping up for STEM support in the not too distant future.

The SZ sound card works just fine as a 32bit device on a 64bit environment, provided you are running a 32bit application. This is solely because the ASIO drivers are only supported with 32bit applications. Until Pioneer releases a 64bit driver, you are limited to running 32bit applications for ASIO support.

I understand that many people have asked for the support and as I mentioned, until recently, there wasn't much need for them. Pioneer is working on creating 64bit drivers and we will certainly make an announcement here on the forums when they are available. Until then, we thank you for your patience.

I find it funny that you marked this tread as answered when in reality i am not provided with any type of a work around. now seeming that the SZ was marketed as having full integration with serato, i am using ableton/serato's Bridge, which in fact does require an ammount of ram that can be larger than 4gb.

i do not appreciate your sass, however thank you for telling me that Pioneer is in the midst of creating a driver after telling me the exact opposite.

extremely professional on your part (much sarcasm)

GOOD DAY SIR.

@Roy > The Ableton / Serato bridge lists the system requirements as having 4GB RAM. The bridge itself doesn't use that much. I've used it, I know.

A workaround was provided; use the 32bit version of the application until such time as a 64bit driver is released. And I never said a 64bit driver was NOT being released, I said:

Currently, the SZ drivers are only 32bit ...

and:

Unfortunately we don't have a timeline on driver release ...

...meaning they ARE WORKING on them, I just don't know when they will be available.

And if you don't like my sass, that's too bad...
