CDJ 2000 & Networking

Oki dokie, here is the first post from me in this section :)

I know we have had quite a few heated threads about LANs with CDJ's connected and I don't want to get in to that again but the fact is, i've just bought some 2000s and connected them to my home network (Netgear Switch) and bamn the Interwebs are dropping cus of the CDJ traffic..

My question is, if I buy a second network card for my Windows 7 Desktop and connect the CDJ LAN to that, then use the other network card for my Internet connection will that cure the issue of my interwebs dropping?

My goal is to be using my desktop with rekordbox in ProDJ Link mode and also on the same desktop broadcasting on to mixaddicts.com (plug plug) ;-)

It has always been clear that the CDJs create a lot of activity on the network.  However I find it hard to believe it generates an unmanageable amount.  I've never encountered the dropouts, perhaps specific brands/models don't handle it so well.

The 2nd network card may/may not help.  What you could try is buying a separate 4 or 5 port switch, connecting your CDJs to that, and then running a cable between the new small switch to your main Netgear switch.  In essence, this is what I do myself, although my CDJs are hooked directly to my DJM-2000, and the DJM is what is connected to my smaller 'DJ' switch.  I then have my laptop connected to my 'DJ' switch for RekordBox, and I also use RekordBox on my desktop, which is essentially 3 network switch hops away.  Wireless also works for RekordBox in this scenario.

FYI - A 2nd network card worked a treat to separate my interwebs and the CDJ traffic

@Mark90 - Believe me the CDJ 2000 kicks out enough traffic to drop my connection, they stopped any of the following from connecting, MSN/Skype/ICQ/MIRC and browsing any website was practically impossible, as I said before I don't wont to get back in to the heated threads we had before..

All is sweeeeeeeeet :-)

It CAN but doesn't happen with all networks / network cards.  It seems to be hit-and-miss.

Glad to hear you got it working with a 2nd NIC!
