Crackling sound when using Traktor Pro 2 with my CDJ350 / DJM350 set up

Hey,

I've just recently bought Traktor 2 for my laptop which is running Windows 7, set it up correctly by installing the pioneer CDJ ASIO, .tsi file etc etc.. When I link it up to my 350's it all works fine at first but a few seconds into playing any track, the sound starts cutting out and crackling like crazy. The 350's a fairly new and the speakers are all working fine. It's probably something really simple that I need to do to fix it, but I just can't seem to be able to :(

Any suggestions??

James

@James > Have you tried using various configurations of your setup to see what might be causing the problems (e.g. try using the CDJs without the laptop etc), various cables might be causing issues (try swapping them) or it could be your audio settings within Traktor.

i had this same exact same problem, the audio randomly cut out but the track kept playing and i had to pause then play the track to get it to start again, but i contact NI and they helped me sort it out, heres the email i was sent back :

Please note the following regarding latency & audio performance: 1. Always use 44100Hz/44,1kHz as sample rate, and make sure to use the ASIO driver for your NI interface (you do this in 'preferences' -> 'audio setup', there please make sure to select the ASIO driver for 'audio device') 2. use 128, 256 or 512  samples as buffer-size/latency (the set value should always be a multiple of 128,  so if you get artifacts with 128, just set this to 256, if you still get artifacts with 256, then set this to 512). You can change this in 'preferences' -> 'audio setup', there click the 'settings' button and then adjust the 'processing buffer'.

After changing the buffer-size/latency to 512 it has worked fine for me. hope this helps mate.

Hey @James -> I have Traktor Pro 2 and CDJ 350 (x2) and DJM 350 working on Windows 7. I have a different problem that you. The sound disappear each  few seconds, and i must do play/pausa to make it sound again.  Did you have the same problem?

Best regards.

@Borja > Have you tried increasing the sound buffer?

@borja - Yep, same problem. It took me a while to figure out that hitting the play button after the sound cuts out makes it work again, but only temporarily. I fixed mine by following Alex Cove's directions above, and also by watching a youtube tutorial on how to optimise a windows pc for djing.. I'd give you the link but I'm on my mobile right now, so look up "Optimize Your Windows PC for DJing & Music Production Pt. 1" and also "Pt. 2" on youtube and the videos you find by the user "dubspot" should help you out..

Good luck!

@Pulse -> I tried increase sound buffer. I increased step by step from 512 to max and the result is that the sound cuts each more time, sometimes each 2 minutes...other around 30 seconds...but still cut.

@James -> Thanks for the info. I was doing what the video says but i haven't any improve. The sound still crash. I'm music producer and i haven't problems with buffer or latencies on my proyects except when i have a real busy project with 30 patterns with vsts, etc. So i thin that the pc is totally able to works with software for djing. Before djing with CDJ 350, i was using Numark Total Control on Traktor 3 and i never had any problems.

Could you add me on facebook or contact via email to try arrange this please?

@Borja > Which version of ASIO4ALL are you running in order to aggregate the soundcards from the two CDJs?

The latest version of ASIO4ALL, the latest firmware of CDJ 350 (1.06), the latest drivers for windows. The problem using ASIO4ALL is that i only can use 1 channel of djm 350 but still lose the sound each x minutes even with latency at max. Yesterday i tried again with Pioneer CDJ Asio. I can use both channels, cues...all works perfect but the sound cut each x minutes and it´s the same with latency  at max or at min. Help me please!

Could be problem from Native Instruments?

Thx.

The problem could stem from that version of ASIO4ALL; try 2.09 instead.
