@Daniel > You're pretty much correct in everything you said above - advanced HID results in better latency settings (much more responsive jog, for example), waveform display, artwork etc. Essentially, it helps all your hardware communicate more fluidly.

FolgenDifferences between HID and Advanced HID
hy,
would be nice if a pio technician can explain the differences between hid and advanced hid to me.
obviously hid advanced has extended capabilities for the display (scrolling the library in the cdj display, cover art, waveform etc.)
but is there a better resolution or latency in comparison to "standard" HID? i can't notice a difference in command resolution/latency for example a cdj 850 and a cdj900 with serato.
would really be nice if a technician ca explain these two standards!
thanks in advance
Greetz from Germany
Daniel

thanks for your reply gavin! i could intensively test a cdj 850 in hid mode vs a cdj 900 in adv hid mode (with ssl) and could notice no difference in lateny/reaction of the jog etc. it feels exactly the same way. the features of the display in adv hid are fine but not neccessary for me.
I think it's just a confusion of the terms; really, the players connect in either HID or MIDI mode. I think they just simplified it for the config menu.
so....there is a difference in latency between standard HID mode and advanced HID mode? cause according to Daniel he said he couldn't notice any difference. I am also wondering if there is a difference in latency because I use turntables and do a lot of scratching and am considering getting a pair of 850's and running them in HID mode with serato, but if there is a difference in jog wheel response between standard and advanced HID mode, I may have to reconsider. I'm not willing to drop the extra cash for 900's just so I can get advanced HID mode. Help.
In STANDARD mode, you didn't have any of the advanced features such as the text, graphics or waveform. I can't say with any certainty that there's a difference in latency.
If you're using 850's with SSL, it won't matter as they use ADVANCED mode anyhow.
