The jog wheel

I'm pretty sure there was a topic about the same issue, but i cannot find it anymore. I've found one, but it was removed because, beside the actual problem, were discussions about disassembling and repairing the equipment at home.

So, i will start a new one.

Here's my video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-4WEskfD_U

It happens only in that area of the jog wheel (upper half), and when i press a little bit towards the center of the jog wheel, not downwards. As u can see in the video, i am not pressing too hard or in a strange way (nothing exaggerated).

Anybody else having this problem ?

Thanks

Marian Eugen

I just tried, and mine do this too, but I either have to put a fair amount of pressure on the side of the jog wheel, or spin it very very quickly.

It is simply called: a design flaw.

I also had this problem with some of the CDJ-2000s I owned/used

One of them was really worse and was sent back to pioneer two times and it now occurs much less to none.

It seems like over time, the springs in the platter can get shorter due to usage and force on the platter, making this happen more often.

It's not something I see a lot but it's definetly known by other DJs that I know.

It also happened to my1000MK3 few years ago ;)

If it's really getting worse the only thing you can do is send it back to a Pioneer repair center.

@Marian > Does it affect when you try to pitchbend? To me, it appears to be within the acceptable tolerance limits but it can be a little difficult to judge without getting a hands on feel.

@ Gavin

Yes, it happens with one of them ( the right one in the video). Later i discovered it happens with the other one either. however, i need to apply a higher amount of pressure on its outer ring, amount that is not needed when pitch-bending. But i definitely need to be very cautious with the right one. I usually use the near half of the ring for pitch-bending,  when using the other half, the line between stopping the song and pitch bending becomes very fragile, many times ends up the wrong way.

@ Pioneer users

This post is intended for keeping the track of this issue and hopefully will help the pioneer engineers in designing the future players. Please do not post about how to repair it at home. Unfortunately this is not permitted on this forum, so , doing this will lead to closing the thread, and maybe a new model of players having the same issue ( i understood that many users had the same issues with the mkIII's).

@Marian > I've created a ticket with the engineers, but in the meantime I'd suggest you could avoid the issue by putting the player into CDJ mode.
