CDJ2000 Nexus Output issue

Anyone else suffering from erratic signal levels from the new CDJ2000 players ? I've noted on my DB4 mixer that the output levels seem to be all over the place with Beatport purchased, platinum notes analysed tracks. Just recorded a set and the levels are all over the place.

Totally underwhelmed by the new decks at the moment I have to say !!!

mp3 or wav from beatport?

not sure id run mp3's thru PN... saying that i doubt id run wav's thru it either!

purchased tracks should be mastered, if you have concerns that they arent... id go back to beatport and let them know.

how are you actually recording your mixes from the db4...?

how about recording some tracks direct from the output of the cdj into your recording device and seeing what happens...!

Nothing to do with the tracks as I've recorded mixes into Logic with my original CDJ2000's with the same configuration and never had any issues. I'm not sure whether its something to the quantize / sync / RB set up using the new players.

so how do you have these wired up... phono cables or digital coax?

without much to go on - none of us will be any the wiser....

quantize/sync is not going to effect audio output.. while smething like using the decks in MT could!

Appreciate the responses Matt everything is connected as before via digital, you may have uncovered something though with master tempo - oh please god no !!!!

Seriously I'm thinking of sending the units back as I can't see value in keeping them at the moment

My set up is identical to what i've used for the last 18 months, pro dj link connected to RB via Mac and two CDJ2000's connected to DB4 mixer connected via digital coax. All I've changed are the decks upgrading them to the nexus.

Just wondering because I have a DB4 and two CDJ2000's, like you had then.

What about the earlier request to record some tracks direct from the player?  That'll prove it to the new deck, providing it's a track that was OK on the old players?

no problems here paul. i have the nexus/db4 setup too after previously owning mark ones.

it's a shame your issue is spoiling your enjoyment of the new decks, i'm absolutely loving mine. a big improvement on the mark ones. the master tempo is now excellent too so i doubt it's that. it might be a fault on your DB4?

i personally wouldn't touch platinum notes, there's absolutely no need for it.

assume bits and sampling rates have been checked and aligned across all digital signal paths?

the only other option to rule out digital is to plug in the phono cables and try it the ol skool way...

you can normally tell when digital signals drop out - but just to be sure your digital cables are all good arent they... im really routing for an alternative answer than a problem with the cdj....

I need to check a bit deeper and you may be correct it could be platinum notes making the tracks dodgy as i've only been using the program again for the last three months or so. I'll report back.

Phil - have you used the sync feature - what do you think ?

yes, i've given it a whirl. it works really well, its good fun to use once in a while and very useful when a bit worse for wear. not sure if i can be bothered doing all the beatgrids for all my music collection though!

the new master tempo sounds great so far, i love the slip roll & all the quantised functions along with all the other little tweaks and improvements. being able to customise the second column in the browser view is amazing for me. i'm really happy with the nexus, i hope you get your problem fixed - let me know how you get on. as i've got the same setup you can send me a couple of files and i'll gladly try them on my decks - it might help you find the problem quicker.

also, i've heard there's going to be firmware update announced at the BPM show this weekend for the DB4....
