You need a Serato box for the HID features of the 850 to be activated. Otherwise you can use the CDJ 850s in MIDI mode with the pc link in Traktor. You will need to download the midi mapping for the program and import it into traktor to use it. You won't need a traktor box, just the program, and this will allow you to output your sound through the CDJ soundcards to your mixer. IMO using the players in Serato with HID is MUCH MUCH better and more intuitive.

Folgen[SOLVED] CDJ850 'PC' Button
Hi everyone, I've had my 850's a while now and have been loving the USB feature. However I decided to give 'PC' a go to see what happened and I can't really figure out what it's for.
I've downloaded Serato, and connected the 850 to my computer via USB, but there isn't a great deal happening... am I missing something? Do you need a Serato box to use this feature? Or is it for something else entirely?
Thanks

thanks very much!
any Serato box will do just fine. Although you'll need 3 available USB ports, or a USB hub I suppose. In Serato the audio will need to be routed through the box instead of the CDJs (or atleast might as well since you need it plugged in to unlock the program)
the 3 USBs for 2xCDJ 850 and1xSL box
@Dave > The Serato software is free but in order to run it, you require the approved hardware such as the SL audio interface or a Rane Mixer.
Traktor is paid-for software and doesn't require an audio interface.
Personally, I agree with Brandon in saying that I feel Serato is a better option but it all depends entirely on what you prefer.
Let us know what you decide to go with and we'll be happy to help you setting up.
850 HID support coming in Traktor 2.6!!!
@Brandon > Yes, thank you - please don't cross post everywhere.
^sorry I just thought if i posted in the threads where people specifically asked about traktor it would help them.
