[CLOSED] CDJ 900 pitch & master tempo issue
Hi All,
I just bought a 16 month old used pair of CDJ 900s from a mate's colleague and one of them works absolutely fine. The other one however is showing the following problems:
Cannot turn Vinyl mode off.
The pitch range button does not work.
Master Tempo does not work.
On activating slip mode, the pitch range changes; i.e., every time the slip mode is turned on, it acts like the pitch range button changing the pitch range sequentially. This also happens while scratching using the slip mode as the slip mode light turns on and off and changes the pitch range.
Since this is used and past its warranty, will I have to pay for repair since this is a known issue? Please help. I'm really confused as to what to do about this.
Thank You.

Just had the same thing happen with a deck I purchased used. I will likely return it, but if it isn't an absurdly serious or expensive problem I would likely opt to get it fixed. I know the protocol on these forums is generally not to post any exact dollar amounts, but in terms of my wallet taking a beating, how bad is this issue? Thanks!
I had this exact same issue after some beer got spilt on one of my 900's. They are VERY easy to strip down and clean. Take a few cotton wool buds dipped in water and clean the circuit boards .........
might even just be a dodgy ribbon cable not seating correctly ....
For real? I'm comfortable with taking this thing apart if the consensus for this issue is that a cleaning or reseating a ribbon should solve it. I called both the Pioneer repair centers nearest to me (2 hours away), and was given the "can't do nothin' if I don't see it" treatment, and I'm not so inclined to spend $50 on shipping or gasoline just to find out the cost of repair exceeds the cost of the player or that I could have fixed the issue myself with a cotton ball. Obviously, in the position I'm in with having the option to return this or have it repaired professionally at the seller's expense, I'm not going to go and take this thing apart unless that is 99% likely to be the issue and really so easy to fix. Thanks again!
Okay, so it looks like the part at fault would be the part # DWS 1417 "SLDB ASS'Y", correct?
Hi All,
The pitch slider uses a different PCB which is connected by a ribbon cable to the main board of the CDJ-900. The issues that I faced were due to that cable coming loose. It is a quick and easy fix but please be careful.
Just because of the situation I'm in, I think I will just take it to the repair center on the off chance the PCB is bad.
Sorry guys, you know we can't permit tech support on the forums and we're not too well versed on the hardware failure points to be able to diagnose and fix a problem on here. Please bring the unit to a service centre or even a local electrical engineer if you're not willing to travel too far.
