[SOLVED] Problem with USB Hub connecting CDj 900's and Traktor

Hi,

I am having a hardware/software communication problem when I try to use a powered USB Hub to HID connect my CDj 900's to Traktor.  The problem only occurs when I use the hub for the connection, whereas if I make direct USB connections between the CDjs and my Macbook Pro it works perfectly.

When I make the connection through the USB HUb, the CDjs correctly control the right and left channels on Traktor software but the output to my external mixer only comes out of one channel on my external mixer.   In preferences --> Output Routing  the output deck A and Output deck B only allow for Pioneer CDJ L and Pioneer CDJ R for both decks.  I know this is wrong because when I directly connect them I can select 0, 1, 2, and 3 for the decks.  Under Audio setup I have it correctly set to Pioneer CDJ (core audio).

I have tried connecting one CDj directly to one USB port on my computer and the other through a USB hub with no luck.  I have also tried connecting both CDJs through the USB hub, again no luck.  I have tried different USB cables and I have tried a different USB hub (same brand/model) and no luck.  Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?  Do I have to rerun the aggregator using the hub in place?

USB Hub: Cables Unlimited (USB-1870): problem occurs when powered by AC or through USB port

MacBook Pro: 2009, 2.93 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo

OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)

Traktor Scratch 2.5.1

CDJ firmware: 4.20

Thanks for any help!

@Chris > Can you try something for me... Connect everything but one CDJ up. Get the first CDJ connected first and when thats working (via the hub) then try connecting the second.

If this doesn't work, connect everything up as normal, getting everything working as best you can then try resetting the audio card settings within Traktor.

Obviously enough the problem here is with the hub. I think there may be a better procedure for separating the 'channels' running through the hub but I just can't recall right now. I'll dig up that info.

Hi,

I tried just connecting one CDj through the USB hub but the problem is still there.  I canot select decks 0,1, 2, and 3.  Only left and right.  So when I add the second CDj it tries to put them both out through the same channel on the external mixer.  I also tried resetting the audio card settings but that didn't change anything.  I may try to find a different USB hub but I would prefer not to buy one yet if there the problem is not the hub.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you haven't aggregated the sound cards. You'll find a file for download on the PioneerDJ.com/support website that automagically aggregates the sound cards for you.
