Am I a wise old man?

I'm still running 4.10 on the CDJ's and 1.5.3 on RB

The truth is, I'm too scared to upgrade, my beatgrids are still OK, my loops work and it's stable.

I was wondering though, if I'm missing out anything usefull staying where I am?

Oh man I feel the same like you. I am also afraid to do any firm update in players. I am running firm v4.11 and recently I updated to new RB. For me is stable also. Not many things changed in RB apart from some features that actually is for nexus. I think if you have hold the file for 1.5.3 RB you can try the new version see it for yourself and if you don't like it re-install the previous one.

Hey Dream, does the combination of FW 4.11 and RB 2.0.1 works for you?? I am asking that because I was just about to reanalize all my tracks with 1.6.2 since a mate here said the combination RB 1.6.2 + FW 4.2 fixes the loop problem. But it is a lot of work to fix all beatgrids again and bla bla bla...

@ Effect > check this link http://forums.pioneerdj.com/entries/20117996-cdj-2000-cdj-2000-w-firmware-drivers

it says that the fixes from 4.10 to 4.11 were minor ones:

2012-07-05

Firmware from 4.10 to 4.11

- Fixed an issue that a particular USB3.0 does not work properly. (The transfer rate for a USB3.0 device is the same as USB2.0.)

- Fixed an issue that static noise was occasionally generated with a particular MP3 file.

Conclusion: if you don't use a usb 3.0 device to play then you should stay at the safe place you are now. If you do then upgrading to 4.11 would be a good idea to avoid problems during playback (if you ever had them). If everything is running smooth and fine you should stay where you are as being at the edge of releases has been shown as a dangerous behaviour.

So being scared to upgrade may be a wise thing yes! I intend to adopt such stand also as soon as I can have my last (or another stable) combination of RB and FW also.

Strobo, firm v4.11 and RB v2.0.1 works for me as a charm. But I got to tell you that RB ver 1.6.2 was not confirmed by Pioneer to use with cdj2000. So I never used it. It's better I think to try RB 1.5.3 which also works like a charm. I got it for PC if you want it. I can't say with confidence about 1.6.2 cause i never used it. I installed it once and there was a message pop saying that if you use cdj2000 you shouldn't install it so I uninstall and reinstall 1.5.3.

uhn.. this is getting messy :P

ok so 1.6.2 is not supposed to be used with cdj 2000 mk1? I did not get that message you are speaking about otherwise I would had never update to 1.6.2 and so on...

if rb 2.0.1 works with 4.11 Ill try the rollback then. Shame I already uninstalled 2.0.1 from my pc... Yes I'd love to have that version installer just in case. I won't delete older versions anymore cause you never know... can you host and send me the link at scopestrobo@gmail.com , please? Thanks so much for the help!

I'm on 4.10 on my CDJs and still run Rekordbox 1.5.1. No way I'm installing anything else till Pioneer gets their act sorted.

When RB got updated from 1.5.3 to 1.6 there was a note saying that cdj2000 users shouldn't update and that you should stick to 1.5.3

Since I use an external SSD as a track source and that has a usb 3.0 interface I guess its better to use 4.11 and not 4.10. I will try to do some tests with RB 2.0.1 and see what happens. I hope it works. Will post the results here just as a north to other people that are trying to get rid of the loop problem.

I for one am sticking with good old 4.10. If it aint  broke, no point in fixing it, right? I have no plans to link with a 2000 nexus nor do I use USB3 (which will still run at USB2 speed) so why upgrade? Yes, it has been a while for those of us who were the guniea pigs or lab rats for pioneer coz we were the first to buy the 2000 MK1s which are now preety solid but we would like some new feutures from newer firmwares because the 2000 is still the flagship players in most clubs today
