Red LED on just ONE deck? CDJ 2000NXS

Hey guys, I recall when I had the first edition CDJ 2000's running w/a DJM 900, whichever deck was playing live had the RED colored LED ring.  I'm hearing that there needs to be a hub to connect the two decks w/the mixer via ethernet cable but I could have sworn that the deck playing live would always be red when the upfader was up on it's channel and the crossfader was on it's side with no hub connection required (just an ethernet cable connecting the CDJ 2000's together for LINK.  Anyone else been able to do this or am I crazy?  Thanks all in advance.  Oh yea, and happy Firmware update day!  Lol!!  ;)

nope, you're crazy, lol.

the 900 MUST be connected in the link via ethernet to have the red lights appear otherwise the decks have no clue what the mixer is doing, this does require an ethernet switch if you own 2-2000's and a 900. The DJM2000 is the only mixer that has a built in switch so you would be able to do it without an external switch with that mixer

Hey Bob, yes - you do need a router/switch to connect everything up to make use of the on air Mode. In essence, the CDJ sends information (audio) to the mixer but it doesn't "receive" any information so there is no way of it knowing if the channel fader is up or down. Pro DJ link enables this.
