Hi all. I am new to the forums and wanted to hopefully get some advice and opinions on my situation. I have done some researching on my own so i am not going in blind. I have read the other posts (not many at ll though) about an error E-7001 that has given people issues, mainly after what ive gathered when updating their firmware (seems 4.01 and above). So my situtation is that I ordered this particular CDJ-2000 off of ebay that was advertised as perfect working condition by a private owner. Immediately at Power On of this unit i received that dreaded Error Code on the screen "E-7001 Disk Drive Error" The unit came upgraded with the 4.06 firmware and after searching online for reasons and solutions i can only assume that this happened while in the other users possession! Now, is this a safe assumption? Can that Error code be generated because of mechanical reasons, which would maybe mean it happened during delivery. I feel like i got shafted basically. And of course the seller swears it wasnt like that before he shipped it out.........which from dealing with him, even before the sale, and reading about this Error Code, I find that hard to believe. I am furious that i received an item like this and yes, i already opened a case. The CDJ's were packed up tight during delivery, actually in a flight case with all the appropriate padding and foam that come along with it. Sooooooooo....im at a loss. i contacted a local Authorized repair rep and said he cvan do a diagnostic for free so i will be hopefully doing that next week. And also, do these CDJ's keep like somewhat of a data log.......you know like most equipment and computers do these days with dates of updates, date the error code happened, etc. i would only hope to assume so since these units are very sophisticated and even keep a memory of previous playlists. Any help, opinions, advice and light being shed on all of this is greatly appreciated. Thx
