[SOLVED] CDJ 2000 nexus doesnt support playback from IPod classic 6th gen

Having upgraded from cdj2000 mk1 which read my Ipod classic 160gb as a source I find it hard to beleive that Pioneer have dropped the support on the Ipod classic with the release of the cdj2000 nexus. In my Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus manual it clearly says made for Ipod and doesnt mention that its only for Ipod touch. Its great that we have a new mobile rekordbox app but how is taking away a feature and replacing it with another one fair? I would really like a future software update rectify this as soon as possible. The only reason I bought two Ipod 160gb classics was for connectivity to a cdj.

As with all these things John we can all find little problems here and there every product on the market especially when a unit like the CDJ2000 is upgraded.

Just look back at what Techincs went though when they brought out the Mk3 & Mk5 lol poor sods...

Anyway i wound't worry to much at this moment because I am sure if ENOUGH people let the lovely guys & girls at Pioneer know we need this back a firmware update might be poss to allow / support it.

Not having a go :) I can completely see where your coming from buddy.

Tim

Peace out and good luck :)

@John Papas > There was an official statement made a little while ago on the topic:

Pioneer recommends the use of SD cards or USB memory devices for the best performance when using the CDJ-2000nexus multiplayer. With regards to Apple products, the CDJ-2000nexus does have 'Made for iPhone /iPad/iPodTouch' accreditation but we do not recommend using Apple products as mass storage devices (ex. USB flash devices, USB HDD devices) without rekordbox App. Only the below Apple products are guaranteed compatible with the CDJ-2000nexus iPod touch (3rd generation, 4th generation) iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS iPad, iPad2, iPad (3rd generation)

According to my manual that came with the cdj2000 nexus on page 5 you can see it says made for Ipod with the picture of an Ipod classic. This is false advertising then according to Pioneer's official statement and I think its only fair a refund is offerred to its customers based on this.

Hi Gavin I would appreciate a response to my last post.

The response from the engineers is as follows:

"CDJ-2000nexus does not support iPod Classics" (iPod classics are not mass storage devices therefore you need to use the rekordbox app.)

The description on the box is clearly marked:

the ipod classic image is the 'made for iPod' logo that Apple makes you use if you want to be an officially compatible product.

whilst it might have mislead you, it's apple's fault, not pioneers and certainly not false advertising.

Yeah, thats definitely whats catching people unfortunately.

You are certainly right in that those are the rules laid down by Apple.

Does rekordbox export data to a classic iPod? I never thought of trying it as I just presumed you could only access the mp3s and have no beat grid and waveform etc....
