[SOLVED] Key Notation Issue Just Being Ignored?

So back when the 2000 nexus decks came out I was all excited and bought them because of the many new features but was extremely dismayed to see that they hosed up the camelot notation completely for everyone - even those who paid for MiK and already tagged their songs.  Several threads were started about this, and then the moderators closed them all and said the feature has been requested.  I've been waiting and waiting.  And we have no updates since.

So is this the end of the plan for Pioneer?

I am giving up on the solution in general and will be selling my Nexus decks and DJM 2000 and replacing them with a Xone 4d so I can use traktor again and get my camelot notation back.  Yes I realize I could use Traktor with my current setup but the functionality SUCKS when compared to 4D.  The only reason to go with Pioneer is for Rekordbox but apparently Pioneer has decided to have a war on Camelot notation with Rekordbox.

This is the easiest thing in the world to implement IMO and Pioneer went out of their way to piss of DJs everywhere and now is ignoring the issue and apparently instructing moderators on the forums to stop people from talking about it.  Ridiculous.  This whole thing is beyond frustrating.

At least I guess I will earn some money back by trading in the Piocrap for A&H.

Let me know if anyone is looking for some barely used CDJ-2000 and nexus decks.

Or mods let me know if Pio has decided to stop the gag order on their ridiculous decision to kill camelot notation in Rekordbox.  I doubt it though and you will probably delete this thread shortly.  Hopefully at least some will see the ridiculous decisions this company is making and think twice on investing in what USED to be the DJ standard everywhere.

I've been using Camelot notation/mixed in key with rekordbox/nexus since they came out with absolutely no issues.

I'm not sure what you're doing wrong.

Ps, there's no 'war' with mixed in key, they just own the copyright on the Camelot system. Even traktors new key detection can't use it, they've used their own system.

Just order your playlist by key in rekordbox and right click the column to re number. Your tracks will then appear in key order on your USB, effectively sorting by Camelot key.
Or
You can also sort any playlist, at any time directly on the Cdj, open a playlist, hit menu and click sort, scroll down to key and click the rotary. Your playlist will then be sorted by Camelot notation.
Or
With the latest firmware the traffic light system works with MIK data showing harmonically compatible tracks in green which I think works much better than a 'sort' as I think it restricts your choices much less.

I'm sure there's other ways to work with keys too, its hardly the show stopper you describe.

Put the mik value in comments field, then you can't sort by it at any stage - simple

If these 4 ways of sorting via Camelot key don't cover what you're trying to do Tim then let me know.

I appreciate your desire to help but no, none of these 4 solutions solve the problem...

Solution 1 - Use playlists to order by key?  This breaks all of my playlists.  So I am left to choose between having usable playlists OR using camelot key notation.  Not ideal.  And I would have to manually go through all of my thousands of tracks and put them into playlists in the right order of key?  I mean I guess that would work but it's not a good solution at all.

Solution 2 - It does NOT sort by camelot key unless you are using older firmware.  Firmware that is NOT compatible with the CDJ-2000 Nexus since it requires traffic light system.  Pioneer uses the camelot key notation correlations and switches the keys I have tagged to the regular key notation when it displays.  As people in the other threads have pointed out, this seems to use the camelot key notation much more so than just displaying the keys I already entered into my tags.  As long as Rekordbox isn't adding these keys, I don't see the licensing problem.  The MiK software is being used how it is supposed to.

Solution 3 - Use traffic light system and NOT camelot key notation.  That was the whole point of those threads and my frustration - not everybody thinks the traffic light system is an improvement.  I am one of those people.  I want to be able to sort by camelot key using the keys I have tagged in my files.

Solution 4 - Sorting by comments field would be fine if that were an option.  Unfortunately it is NOT one of the sortable fields when browsing using rekordbox.

Again I appreciate your comments and insight but I just want the system to work how it used to with the non-nexus CDJ-2000s before the traffic light system.  I would never have upgraded my decks had I known they would do this.  I don't understand how it can be a licensing issue to sort by the key values I have added to my songs tags using the MiK software.  This is exactly how MiK works with all of the other DJ software programs available.  If Traktor and Serato, etc, started doing this MiK would go out of business because no one would be able to leverage what it offers.  Pioneer advertised these decks to be the replacement for the DVS systems but this lacking feature IS a show stopper IMO.

Please Pioneer come out with a fix.

tim, solution 2 DOES work, i use it all the time and just double checked it. i'm using the latest firmware - it absolutely sorts by camelot key, exactly like the 2000mk1 did which i also owned.

i shot a quick video (unfortunately it's rotated by 90 degrees but you get the deal) - is this not what you want to do? the playlist is originally sorted by BPM, then i switch the sort to key - all camelot.

i'm not sure what you mean about switching keys, rekordbox just reads what is written in the key field as far as i know.

regarding solution 3, you miss my point - traffic light WORKS with the camelot system, it makes suggestions based on 5A 6A 6B etc. i have not let rekordbox scan the key of my files, only mixed in key.

also, solution 1 works with all of your existing playlists and takes 2 clicks per playlist to do. you don't have to manually redo anything.

@ tim - you can definitely sort by comment on the cdjs whether using memory cards etc or link with rekordbox. I do it...
