Remotebox & CDJ-2000 Nexus???

I notice everyone seems up in arms about not having remotebox integration with the CDJ-2000 Nexus. What I fail to understand is why? The majority of controls Remotebox offers are related to mixing and FX which the CDJ-2000 nexus does not have. The other main feature (browser) we already have via rekordbox with your iphone/ipad. I mean let me be frank I have these capabilities I just don't ever use them because I like the feel of my CDJ's. Lastly we have transport controls (play, cue, jog wheel, etc) which again I will never prefer the little screen over the real thing. It seems to me everyone is just trying to set themselves up for going apeshit when Remotebox is not perfect and it "ruins their set" in some way or another.

So the point of this post is this. Is there something I am missing that Remotebox offers that will be able to be used by the 2000 Nexus's that a.) is not offered already and is b.) actually useful?

1 huge feature it offers, You can browse and search a usb drive plugged into a deck via Remotebox, no more laptop needed if you have to quickly search and drop a track

the browsing capabilities blow away the rekordbox app, there is not even an ipad version of RB like there is remotebox, Remotebox overall just has better library integration then the rekordbox app, plus the rekordbox app is so slow and clunky, remotebox was much faster to search and load tracks

@ Brichi - Understood but I use my laptop with rekordbox and I would think that would be a better library integration than ipad or iphone.

@ TURFER - And how exactly would that be used by a CDJ-2000 Nexus?

Just to clarify I am not against it I just don't see the huge need for something that has such little use yet would tie up the PIO team who should be getting the nexus's to function 100% as intended.

@Dave, yes , I think the laptop is better suited for library management and such but for a gig I never use my laptop, just a USB drive, the only reason I set my laptop up is if I have to search for a track quick and drop it, would be nice to be able to do that from a small iPad then having to keep a a laptop in the way just to search some tracks a couple of times a night. The R1 and Aero do this and its an awesome feature.

And I also agree the cdj should get priority to get it 100% but I would hope a company as big as pioneer has separate teams for separate areas so the iPad app engineer is not the same engineer working on the nexus hardware.

With the exception of the ability to search the USB stick with an iPad I can't see why any other features should be rolled back onto the CDJ2000nexus. Certainly, remotebox isn't destined for that kind of a player - the CDJ2000nexus isn't the type of player where you might walk away from and DJ remotely from an iPad.

There are indeed different product engineers and different teams assigned to different products.

I agree Gavin, just add the searching/browsing ability and the app would be awesome. None of the tablets nowadays can hold large libraries as you know

Good to know!

My question is ... if Serato can do it ... WHY CANT PIONEER ?!

BriChi is right - ive long called for USB searching on the Ipad App, id settle for that aswell - But its pretty obvs by the LACK of confirmation - THIS IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. Even though your UK Reps were selling that fact the Nexus could do it back last Oct // Nov. Very very VERY Frustrating !!

I used the Serato App on Friday with the Nexus in HID mode.

My point is if Serato can come up with an app - that works in partnership with their software, why cant Pioneer with the Nexus.

Serato's Remote - is their answer to Pioneers Remotebox - If Serato can implement an app thats pretty much flawless. Why cant you port over Remotebox to the Nexus.

In some ways the software is very similar, just Serato have nailed it, Remotebox looks EVERYTHING RB should be on the Nexus, the idea you can control MP3s on a HD via the Ipad, something the Aero and other CHEAPER controllers have been able to do for over a year now - really leaves the Nexus way behind in this department.

Just look at all the trouble BriChi has had with Android, the App on the Ipad has not had an update in nearly 6 months - and for me is currently unworkable and completely unuseable as im not prepaired to pay for a 128gb Ipad. Why should I ?!!?!?

Basically most people who what to intergrate an Ipad into their set up - want to be able to control their USB data (MP3s stored on the HD or SD) - then be able to select, manageage and use the Ipad or tablet as a control surface to "manage" whislt playing.

As ive seen myself with my Toshibia, the SD Card option is too slow on an Android. It kept lagging when directly plugged infoa USB, there are also too mnay variations of Android and manufacturer tweeks - to make standardisation practical.

The Ipad is the best route - and bar the other "Loosing File" issue - is my second biggest gripe with these darn players, ive paid £3000 for 2 decks I was told would support using an Ipad to control MP3s on a HD or SD.

The fact is its technically not possible. I really cant understand why I was told they would do this by your team at BPM 2012 in Oct in Birmingham. Your Aero and other controllers CAN

The Denon app CAN

The Serato App CAN

The Numark app CAN

Your £700 // £800 controllers CAN

What CANT Your industry standard flag ship ?!?! To me its mental.

Serato is software. CDJ-2000 Nexus is hardware.

Serato controls mixing. CDJ-2000 Nexus is not a mixer.

Denon, Numark, & the cheaper controllers are all toys/ CDJ-2000 Nexus is not.

The Nexus is not being left behind in this department. It just happens not to be in this department.

Problem is "Dave" - The Nexus was "Promised" ... By UK Pioneer representatives at a showcase event 8 months ago that Rekordbox Mobile App would actually do most of the stuff their "toys" would actaully be able to do ... that it would be able to control via an app the management, searching and and assigning of a tune, from the I Pad or Android for a USB devise, if you cared to read the forums over the last 8 - 10 months ... this point has been extensively made by numerous users.

The fact the "toy" can do it - is no excuse why Nexus customers have been left in the dark.

My point is if they can do it for the Aero, it should be sorted for the Nexus. The new Remotebox (if you care to look at Youtube) - does alot of what the new Serato app actually does.

Also if you had cared to read previous post's on this matter - Ive asked - like numerous others - for a mobile Ipad app Rekord box or Remotebox, im not really fused - that can search a USB or SD devise.

I was purely highlighting the fact that other leading companies have been able to impliment a reliable system - to brose and search or use a keyboard on your Ipad - whist using the USB HD as your music source.

Again - if you had read previous posts, im sure you would be well upto date...

You can bet your bottom dollar pioneer have listened and added the ipad functionality to the mk3... Probably 'testing' it as we speak!

Will they have any customers left tho the time it's released is the question...

we have been asking this feature BEFORE remote box was released.

It is a bit sad seeing that remotebox can do what many of us expected from the nexus.

this feature is a big deal for me and others!!!!  I also thought I could search any plugged in usb on the Nexus with a tablet when I BOUGHT the cdj... I was disappointed when it got clear I couldn't ....

I never knew there was such a demand for this. I need more of a hands-on control personally. Glass surface simply does not feel right to me. It is cool to play around with all the DJ apps and such but professionally I just don't see myself ever using an ipad when it counts. What's even funnier is I actually wish (and ask) Serato to release an that functions like rekordbox does. It is far more useful to me to be able to set beat grids, edit, add cue points & loops on the go than use an ipad while performing.

I prefer all hands on too, I would not use the ipad for loops, cues, etc..... its more to browse and search tracks and load them using a bigger screen, the control would still be all on the cdj after the tracks loaded

Rekordbox does not do this? Second to the editing on the go that is all I use Rekordbox for. I use the Mac via ethernet and Iphones via wi-fi. I browse entire collection via MacBook (again I would NEVER want to replace this with an ipad) and add any brand new tracks via iphones. It really is a nice system IMO.

it is a great system indeed but I would love to go into a club with just my usb drive and a $500 ipad to do my searching and loading instead of a $1500 laptop. 99% of my sets I dj right from the usb drive but I like having th ipad in te chain so I could search and load quick, the searching and loading I d from the macbook now can easily be done on a small iPad live at a gig. Again, it's not for everybody but obviously it's a useful feature if Pioneer already started adding this feature do new units

they have this feature on the Aero and the new R1, plug in a flash drive, browse that flash drive from the iPad. so obviously this is possible and hopefully will be in future units also

All these points are BANG ON AND ITS QUITE CRIMINAL THE NEXUS Cant currently do this

I too just want Simple select and management from the Ipad - while the tunes are on an external HD or SD. Its not rocket science Pioneer !!!
