[SOLVED] Do I Need a Nexus Mixer to use CDJ2000 Nexus to Full Potential?

Hi,

I have been a DJ for many years and am currently thinking of upgrading to a pair of the new CDJ 2000 Nexus.

In all setups I've seen they are connected up to a new DJM900 nexus, or equivalent.

I own an old DJM600 and am quite happy with it. Do I really need to upgrade the mixer as well? If I connect the 2 CDJ2000's via the LAN cable, and audio RCA cables to my old mixer will I be able to benefit from the sync and slip modes, and rekordbox etc? Or do you need one of the new mixers as well for this to work?

Thanks.

Tim

not at all, the only features you will be missing if you keep the 600 is

On air - CDJ lights red when volume from nexus mixer is raised

quantized effects, when using the effects a nexus linked to RB, the effects are perfectly on beat (or at least as on as you set the beat grids)

Brilliant, thank you. That's just what I wanted to hear. The DJM600 obviously detects BPM anyway and adjusts the effects accordingly.

Thank for your help. You just saved me £1500.

@BriChi is right as always ;-)

BUT - I've been plying on 600, 800 and the 900 nexus, and I must say, the features u get with the quantized feature is awsome. I've been spinning for 15 years and with that, I just got instant with 4 channels mixing like n other... Not saying that you should buy one, but u should really think about it.. Cheers from Swe :-)

@Tim > Are the extra features derived essential? Probably not. Does it make a nice addition to your setup? Absolutely. You'll definitely find increased improvements in the sound quality and functionality of the 900 over the 600 - you'll need to weigh up if these added benefits are worth it to you. Good luck with your choice!
