CDJ2000NXS Out of Box

Hello all,

I have just purchased CDJ2000NXS for the first time brand new, and I am wondering what kind of maintenance (firmware updates, rekordbox updates, etc) will be needed in order to achieve full function immediately. I am familiar with how to use the players but very unfamiliar with the the maintenance required to run rekordbox or serato properly. It would be greatly appreciated if someone would outline exactly what needs to be updated when I remove them from the box.

definitely make are the players are on V1.22, it says the version number on boot up and in the menu, the link is here for the update if needed: http://pioneerdj.com/support/product.php?c=1467&lang=en&p=CDJ-2000NXS&t=178

download Rekordbox 3.0.2 from the site, don't bother with the RB version that came with the cd players, probably an old disc by now

forget serato, link up RB to the players and go to town, no need for serato anymore

It's quite important to have the same firmware on both units. It might not be the case with two brand new units, it depends when they left the factory. In my case I got two different firmware version and indeed it created troubles until I updated them to the same version on both.

So first thing to do is check that they both have the same firmware. 1.22 is the most recent but 1.21 is fine as well, 1.22 only adds kuvo support, which is useless unless you are a club owner that wants to use the kuvo service. If you have 1.21 on both units don't bother upgrade, if you have 1.20 or older then you should upgrade to 1.22.
