Loop Feature not automatic on 2000 Nexus?

Hi,

so I just switched from Serato w/ controlled vinyl over to CDJ 2000Nexus and I'm learning all these new features, along with rekordbox.

Excuse me if this question has been answered before but I am brand new at this, and after 3 hours of playing on the decks, reading the manual 3x over, testing, and searching multiple forums I just cant' find the resolution!

Now here's my problem.

I create a loop either IN Rekordbox or ON my CDJ 2000 Nexus. I have several cues and hot cues as well. I decide to play my song from a cue that starts BEFORE the loop, when the song reaches the loop(s) which I can see indicated by a white arrow, the song doesn't fall into the actual LOOP. But, if I cue the loop before I play the track, or during the track it automatically JUMPS to that loop, interrupting the song. So it's not seamless at all.

The ONLY way I've had success at making sure this loop automatically plays even if I decide to play/start a song at an earlier cue point is if I use the "active loop" feature WITHIN rekordbox. As you can imagine this is very limiting. I am forced to chose which loop I want to automatically play out before I play my set or practice. And what if I create a loop ON the CDJ it's self, I love it, and I want the ability to go back to it at any given moment?

Is the solution that I have to wait for the white arrow indicator, and re-create the loop 'live"?

As a former serato user, this is incredibly frustrating. Before, I just had to click a button for "loop" and my loop would play out when it arrived on a song, whether I had 1, 2, or 3 loops saved. I feel like this is such a simple feature and I have to be doing something wrong!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm so frustrated I can't even practice!  Thank you in advance!

the only way is to yes, set 1 active loop in a track. you can also save loops in the hot start ABC buttons if you want to load and trigger them at will.

if you have a loop and then exit it you can return to that loop by hitting "reloop"

hope that helps a little

also don't forget you have "Loop Mode" on the deck which means you can trigger an auto loop of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32

Gah! That's sooooooo frustrating! What a bummer. I was really hoping for something seamless. So basically saved loops (when using rekordbox/2000s) are just there for indicators, and I have to manually start a loop when I see the white arrow? UGH!

I will try setting a loop as a hot cue and see if that makes an difference in what I'm looking to do. Thanks for answering so quick, at least I can move on now and stop searching!

@BriChi Yes exactly, it just feels like another step you have to do which should be pretty automatic like it is in Serato. My main concern is if I am into a song, etc I could potentially forget to loop it. New things to practice I guess!

yes, i am not sure on the deck how you could choose which saved loop you would want to be active though even if they did add this feature.

you can jump to a saved loop you want to use via the call arrows and then rewind the track to the beginning, it "may" still loop when it hits there again, i would have to test that though, I am not sure.

I know I use active loops but 99% of the times i play tracks I know I am going to loop, its the same area so i never really needed to activate multiple active loops

Gotchya, I don't think the rewind option will work, but I'll try it. Thanks again!

actually rewinding does work, do this

  1. set all your loops and save them in memory

  2. load the track

  3. jump to the loop you want to use and play, now its loop.

  4. now rewind the track via the search strip (while holding the platter still) OR the search button, (NOT the track search one). "loop buttons should still be blinking

  5. play the track and the loop will play when it gets there

heres a demo video I did for ya, sorry for the background noise, wife was cleaning, LOL
