Soooo Can We Expect..........?

Well it seems the guys at Numark were able to conquer a feature that is seemingly impossible for Pioneer to handle. The NV has dual screens that far surpass the CDJ-2000Nexus screens. The color scrolling waveforms that we have been asking for was added, the actual virtual platter widgets & MUCH MORE. Furthermore for about 1/3 the price of ONE CDJ-2000Nexus you can have four deck control (two of which are on screen at a time). One would say WELLLL Let us wait for Pioneer to react to this.......... The issue is they will.......... with ANOTHER product release making our CDJ-2000Nexus's obsolete and the real zinger Mr. Karl Detken Raposo who was apparently the Director of Product Development for Pioneer who now works for Numark is says Pioneer will NOT be able to compete............ and I believe him. After my HORRIBLE experience with the support at Pioneer regarding my DDJ-SZ I will be looking for another solution. I have NEVER in my life encountered a 1-800 number that was "busy" let alone busy ALL DAY. You want a real kicker call 1-800-421-1404 (which is Pioneer's support number) at just about any time during office hours and see if you can get through. Had one day with a TWO HOUR training session that literally lasted 5 hours (at least) so I did not get through that day. I had one day where it rang and rang for hours on end with no answer. When I finally did get through I was told nothing but lies and given nothing but excuses anyways. I actually have documented this all too if anyone dares to challenge me as I am in no way exaggerating or falsifying these claims. I had contacted Pioneer 6-10-14 for support. I was quoted ONE WEEK turnaround (as this is the standard Pioneer DDJ-SZ screw-up that just about every unfortunate owner suffered thus should have been a standard fix). Yeah I STILL DON"T HAVE IT BACK as of this posting. I have a tracking number saying it will be here tomorrow but after all the BS I have been fed over the past month or so I will believe it when i see it (otherwise call the police as I will consider it a theft by Pioneer if it does not come in) as I have no reason to believe what I have been told anymore than any other line I have been given.

Karl Detken: having been the Director of Product Development for Pioneer for 18 years I think you will like this better.

What I currently own from Pioneer:

CDJ-2000Nexus

CDJ-2000Nexus

CDJ-900

CDJ-900

DJM-900SRT

DDJ-SP1

DDJ-SX

DDJ-SZ

HDJ-2000K

HDJ-2000W

HDJ-500K

RMX-500

What I will be selling:

All of it.

What I will be buying in the future:

I honestly never though they would lose me as a customer. I have been nothing but loyal and forever defending Pioneer but I have (instead of getting any benefit of ANY kind from all this support) learned this relationship is one way and will never be mutual. Pioneer caters to the A-List's and the lowest common denominator while forgetting about the inbetweener's. Just remember the inbetweener's are the one's who have been here forever and will still be here after the current EDM craze dies and all the noobs disappear.

Let's see how Pioneer handles this post. It is my guess that it will be deleted instead of what should be done..................... which is showing some appreciation and remorse.

just to hit on one of your points, of course the NV will be a 3rd of a Nexus, its only a controller, it is not a standalone player like the Nexus is. plus, well, its unmark, its built cheap like we all know

I think it would be no Problem for pioneer to open up the waveform Display of the 2k Nexus and 900 Nexus for other Software via hid. hope to see the real time waveforms of serato/Traktor/etc soon on this decks.

I'm sure they have the ability. The thing is they tend to lean towards more revenue over properly utilizing all features if their gear. As of this post there has now been the news of pioneer's new turntable release. I confidant all the half-assed attempts will be aimed toward this instead of last years flagship products.

@Deejay Dave > I'm sorry to hear of your troubles with the SZ. What is it you would like Pioneer to do for you? How can we help?

A very interesting question. I already played this out in my head and I gotta be honest I draw a blank. I know this can't be an individual basis thing but after all the defending & supporting this was just a bad case that just kept getting worse. I got my SZ back today so great news there but again gotta be honest. After testing to make sure it worked (which it did) I simply shut off my gear. covered it and I can't even look at it right now. You know when you get to a point and the energy just gets sucked out of you. Like nobody is listening (well maybe listening but clearly not caring) and you don't know what to do....................... I wish I had that "luxury" as I couldn't even get through to the entity that held my gear for so long.  I mean maybe it was encountering the first 1-800 number that was "busy" let alone almost ALWAYS busy that got to me. I don't know. Maybe it was the flat out lies (many to mention here but would NEVER mention names unless you want me to) such as "we will e-mail you the tracking once we get it" & "we don't post tracking on the support case page" to name a few that I didn't already.......................... you didn't e-mail it to me.................... EVER & you do provide it on the support page!! Too bad it gets posted 5 days after it was shipped as SOME of this COULD have been avoided. No huge lies but false information nonetheless.

I mean I just moved into my new house on the 1st of July and I still haven't unpacked my Nexus', SRT, SP1, etc. I unpacked my SX.......................... all the crap I have and my excitement level is at SX. It is what it is right? I mean what could you do at this point? You don't have to tell me "that sucks" or "it shouldn't have taken that long" as I have already been told this so what else is there? Thanks for asking though I suppose. Unless you have any ideas...........................

Also @ Pulse - ANY time I mention Pioneer I DO NOT mean it towards you. I have seen how tough your job gets at times and I refuse to be one of those guys who takes the faults of your employer out on you.

@Deejay Dave > I understand and I hear your frustration. There can always be one person who doesn't do what they say they're going to do or what they should be doing and that can let down the customer. As an early purchaser of the SZ, you (and many other users) unfortunately hit a bug that Pioneer didn't catch during production or testing. Pioneer addressed the issue but as you noted, were swamped with support requests and many people couldn't get ahold of the support centres by phone or email. I wonder if you were calling an old 1-800 number?

When Pioneer quoted you one week, that likely didn't include transit time, so probably a miscommunication on their behalf for that - and that's assuming they quoted you with having the required parts in stock. If they needed more parts, it could have taken longer. The good news is that you DID get your package back on the date it was promised (as per the shipment tracking info - which is not Pioneer's control if it's late) and while it was not within the time you expected, Pioneer did deliver on repairing and returning your SZ.

Your Pioneer gear list tells me you are a DJ who is passionate about gear and has been happy with Pioneer products over the years. It would be a shame for one incident like this to sour your whole DJing career (I assume you're a working DJ) or Pioneer experience.

And to address your comments about the Numark NV...

1) It's newer than the Pioneer CDJs, so they will have taken ideas from Pioneer and improved upon them.

2) It requires a computer and has no internal processing or playback ability.

3) I won't even comment on build-quality since I haven't ever had my hands on it, but along with #2, I can assume that it's not as durable as a CDJ, thus lower cost.

4) It's never going to make your CDJs obsolete.

5) The display size (as quoted by Numark themselves) is "about the size of a smartphone display" - so 4.7-5.5" (let's average that and say 5.1", area of roughly 11.4sq"). The Pioneer CDJ-2000 display, for comparison, is 6.1" (area roughly 18.1sq"), or 37% larger per deck.

Will Pioneer be able to compete? Probably, who knows what Pioneer has in the pipeline!

I was only mentioning the NV for the screen purposes alone. The CDJ's & the NV are two entirely different products so a direct comparison is not what I was intending. If any direct comparison was meant it was between Pioneer and Numark as a whole. Wit that in mind:

1.) Agreed

2.) Agreed. As I said two entirely different products, I have been using my Pioneer almost exclusively with Serato though so nothing really gained by the internal sound cards of the CDJ's.

3.) I would like to keep the comparisons on build qualities to the products in the NV's actual market. As in the DDJ-SR etc. I will however bring up my SZ which should NOT be in the same field yet check out my "joystick" feeling Beats knob (which should only twist not move in directions) as well as the back panel falling off (which appears to be a plastic sticker). I would consider sending in to be inspected but.....................................

4.) I am not worried about the NV making my Pioneer's obsolete................................ I am worried about Pioneer making my Pioneer's obsolete.

5.) The display size IS 37% smaller yet seems to be 100& more effective. At least when considering Serato.

Listen. I am NOT here to criticize the gear as I DO LOVE my Pioneer gear wholeheartedly. I truly do. I have simply been OFfended by a company I have DEfended for years as well as trusted. I saw the frenzy of people getting their units serviced and figured I should wait only to realize my servicing took longer than anyone else's which normally wouldn't be a big deal (as I don't think I am special in any way) but I was quoted a week turnaround and AFTER Pioneer received it on the 19th of June the unit was sent out over three weeks later on the 11th of July. I actually moved (found a house & bought) in the middle of all that and had to change my address. This is not an obvious problem but when you factor in a company that introduced the 3 hour Busy signal (which was the least amount of time it took any given day) things get a little hairy.

As I said I respect you Pulse and I have seen you perform better than I could under the scrutiny & demand you have encountered but the issue was I was only affected by minimal issues at best and unfortunately "it got to me eventually So Pioneer did their part" doesn't cut it for me & yes it got to me on the date promised by Fed-Ex so they did a great job but unfortunately I am only concerned with Pioneer's performance here.

BTW the number I called is the one listed on the service status page <snip>

I mean let's call it as it is. This shouldn't have happened but it did. I will obviously not be giving up DJing for good but a definite "break" was needed to cool my jets. It would be nice for Pioneer to make things right in my eyes by maybe providing an update making things a little better for me & everyone else. I mean SOMETHING. I have purchased an arsenal of Pioneer DJ gear and sent even more your way (Got my DDJ-SZ for $1699 out the door due to gift cards rewarded for the amount of referrals (all of which were (DJM-900SRT, DDJ-SZ or DDJ-SP1) I sent toward my DJ shop of choice.

I was actually in the market for a RMX-500, Monitor speakers, as well as a DDJ-SB until a few weeks ago.

I understand you live within the jurisdiction's of Pioneer. But try to remember the end user is not a number but a person. Not that you have personally done anything wrong as once more I have no real criticism's for you personally. It is tough to represent a company that has recently lost their way in terms of support. Product development, marketing & innovation IMO are all where they need to be but support............................. not quite.

@Deejay Dave > I try to maintain that every person I deal with here is communicated with the same way I would try and assist them in person, because I do recognize that you guys are just like me - a DJ, trying to play some music and you're likely here to get assistance because something's not working the way it should. Which is why I'm here! I appreciate your understanding of the separation between company and individual, but I still feel bad when someone else drops the ball for the customer, whether it's someone telling you a certain date (and it being wrong) or simply not answering the phone or returning an email.  I'm not going to try and make excuses for them, but you should know that Pioneer does read these comments and uses them to improve their products and services. The fact that you're a continued customer is always appreciated - Pioneer doesn't want to lose users who have not only a history of purchasing but really a relationship in that you trust the brand to create products that do what you need.

Hopefully you'll see this as a speed-bump rather than grounds for divorce. ;)

All good. I actually heard from a pretty important person over there and I am satisfied with the result. If I gained nothing of actual value the peace of mind gained is priceless. I just needed to know that the message was heard and that in fact something is being done about it. I am not one to point fingers and I am actually an easy going guy I just have my limits and when they are crossed I have put all the thought in and I am not looking for a debate as to who or why just that it will be addressed and that is exactly what I got. Not looking for reprimanding (which is why I don't include names of individuals) of any individuals nor am I trying to defame anyone or anything. This was simply woops you messed up!! and can we avoid this in the future please??

Not that I meant any threats of "do as I ask or I will ruin you" but it was ore of me questioning what I was really investing in. I am convinced that the message was heard and somehow someway that is a start for me to move on. Literally all I had to go on up until this morning when i received the e-mail was how thing ended. I now have a sense of maybe not closure but at least a start like I said. Whoever was involved in getting this message across whether it be Pulse or simply the fact that this thread was viewed by the right person I am thankful. On to bigger & better things with Pioneer.
