I'm in agreement with @Pulse. The immediacy of the 900 is what's best. The WYSIWYG layout targets DJ looking to dive right in. The DJM 2000 is a beast, but I would see it more for someone focusing more on live remixing/performance that's linked into an Ableton setup. Plus, it's fucking huge. :-) That's a lot of real estate to have taken up by a mixer alone.
I have both of them, they are pretty good, but I prefer DJM-2000 because of the effect frequency control and the ressonance control of the filters. DJM-900 has too much ressonance on the filters for me and it doesn't have effect frequency control. But all the market prefer DJM-900 because it looks like and has the same layout that the older DJM mixers (DJM-800, DJM-600, DJM-500).
