Just Got My New DJM 900 NXS

Love it what a great piece of kit I was using a Behringer with my CDJ NXS's and only now noticed how great this are playing through the digital output on the DJM.. So Much more quality.!

I'm trying to figure out how to use the cross fader start but 90% sure it has to be connected through the mixer the same as this ''on air'' mode what do I need to get guys is it an Ethernet switch or some sort I tried wiring it all up through an old Virgin Media wireless Router that had 4 in Ethernet ports but no joy the player numbers on the CDJ's weren't bright white more like a faded grey so they wasn't noticing the ''link'' between themselves. So think it might have to be a standard Ethernet switch but not sure what to get any ideas.

Tnx.

You need to plug an 1/8" cable from your CDJ's fader start output to the fader start input of the DJM-900NXS. You need a quality ethernet hub (not a router) and then make sure you've disabled your Firewall and have setup proper permission for allowing incoming signals to ensure communication. Check the manual for the DJM-900NXS, it's a lovely resource that will guide you through everything.

The faderstart is only needed for CDJs that don't have an ethernet connection.

Wait...so via Pro DJ Link connection the faderstart will work sans 3.5mm cabling? Sweet baby Jebus @Pulse you've blown my mind. I can't believe I didn't pick up on this. Looks like I need to refresh the manual a bit.

Yup! Any product with Pro DJ Link does not require the faderstart cables. That's one of the reasons you'll only see the connectors on the lower end mixers (which don't have the link feature).

So guys does this ethernet hub/switcher have to be WiFi. Reason I ask cause I'm not interested in running the setup on WiFi whatsoever I have a USB that has all my tracks on it analysed through record box already just want to keep things the way they are but be able to use fader start and on air mode ect...

You'll have fun with the DJM 900nexus.

I've just had another one, after selling my first one and buying a DJM 2000nexus.
That thing was just too big for my use.
If the beat sampler was synced to the CDJs and rekordbox and had a
longer 32-beat loop I would probably have kept it.
I also liked the the individual beat buttons and the
3 independent effect frequency knobs.
The DJM 900nexus is a no-nonsense powerhouse of a mixer!

I recommend against using a router, a simple network switch is best (even 100mbit is fine, no need for gigabit).
