Problem with sound through headphones from the 'master' channel, DJM800

When mixing, the sound is fine coming through the cue channel. However, when I twist the knob to select the 'master' channel the track doesn't play, if I twist it all the way to master the headphones are silent. The mixer definitely didn't do this when I first bought it (second hand) so I'm guessing it's a hardware fault?
